Added topic, & running drain lines

My friend who is doing a conversion is interested in using an exterior potable water hose versus pex. My comment was longevity, any other comments or words of wisdom? She'll also be traveling by herself most of the time. Does it make sense to have only one waste tank versus two? Thanks for the input.

NEW..... when plumbing drain lines under the bus, it it best just to use abs or galvanized? My concern is the exhaust line and possible rocks hitting the plastic and shattering it. Any thoughts? Thanks, greatly appreciate all input.

Re: Potable water & waste tanks

PEX will not only hold up to the mythical high water pressure (which you will find if you use potable water hose) but it will hold up to freezing better. We have blown re-enforced potable water hoses. Use what you want. If it fails then you can post here and let us all know the it wasn't a good choice.

As for a single waste tank. That's okay too if you will remember to always dump before you back up into the shower and you always keep water in the sink and shower p-traps. Upside of having a single tank is that you will never have to worry about the Tower of Doom due to the large amount of water you will be running thru the waste tank.

We have separate tanks. We bypass the grey tank while on full hookups so the grey direct drains into the sewer. Since we have installed a residential toilet, we will eventually redo the plumbing and put a diverter valve on the toilet to bypass the black tank while on full hookups.

Remember PEX is not friends with sunlight, it's main (only?) weakness.
