Craigslist buses

These are really nice, but what are they thinking? Probably should have started with a newer bus with a good diesel if they want their money back, but even then, 8k???

Re: Craigslist buses

Oh, I dunno... I'd try to get that for mine if I were selling it. Whether anyone pays that or not is another story, but it doesn't hurt to try and get your money back!

Actually, Lapeer on this forum says he has recovered his investment on his busses. It can be done! Just have to put a jacuzzi in there!

Re: Craigslist buses

Remember too that people love to haggle. So if you want to hit 8K you aim for 10K and have plenty of wiggle room. Asking 8K, they are probably trying for 5-6K and anything above that is gravy. From what I have seen on CL they are probably going to sell it in reality around 4K. Diesel is only a plus for those who have spent time and energy researching these vehicles. For the average person gas sounds good as they think they understand gas engines. Gas is familiar, diesel is for big trucks and is loud and smelly and smokes and a million other things they don't understand. And of course you have to know some people who would rather pay than do, and these are "done". As a community of "do-ers" we should encourage these higher prices, after all it would mean we can trade-up when we want to. If someone were to offer me 4K for mine, (even unfinished as it is) I would take it in a second and go get another to start again.

Just my thoughts on it though.

Re: Craigslist buses

I think the first bus is pretty decent out of the 2. The 2nd one doesn't have near the rigging. But its all in what you want or what you want to make it.

I also agree that what people want and what they get is two different things. Most people think their stuff is made out of gold. Not a lot of things keep their value or increase in this world.

I bought a gas bus cause I know gas motors. If I had to do it all over again I would go diesel but Im sure I will do this again. When I sell mine off Im not looking to make money on it. I just want enough to get in to the 2nd one I will do. I see this all the time with BBQ trailer smokers. People think they are made of gold. yes steel is high but jesus I don't want to take out a small loan to buy one.

Usually when people don't know how much time it takes to build or get a bus to a certain level well they may blink and not understand how much time went in to that unit?

Re: Craigslist buses

Hey Bansil, you should be feeling pretty smug at $6000. What with the bus and two donor trucks I was at twice that out of the gate Then there is the sweat equity--my two year project is about to turn 4 years old and It seems like I still have 2 yrs work to do It's all I do---Help----I'm being smothered by my bus!!!! My mother kept saying she raised a fool and I've been trying to prove her wrong ever since---but then THE BUS came along and thank goodness Wiffy has better sense about managing money or we'd be living on the street. At least I would be

Re: Craigslist buses

Wow. I think I'm gonna list my bus on CL. Should I ask 26 or 27 thousand? I thought about 28 but I don't wanna blow anyone out of the water.

Those guys are in for a bit of a let down.

Re: Craigslist buses

The last one has been on there for years. I saw one start out at 10k, make it all the way down to $5k over a year or two, and disappeared. It was very nice, one of the few I probably should have bought.

""I have spent well over $30k on this beauty""
He pays himself better than I do!

"" and would listen to reasonable offers""
Maybe you offer a reasonable starting price?

Not to knock it too hard--it is nicely done-but that seems like a whole bunch of money. Sorry if you paid too much for the shell+ bought everything inside at list price...

Re: Craigslist buses

There is a listing on my CL ads that has been there Im sure a good 6 months. His price has not changed so that tells me that it is way too much. I would love to that the generator in it but they are asking way too much for the bus in its present state

I'm pretty sure I saw that one in the Sam's parking lot last fall here in the Dallas area. Looked in decent shape....purple stripes are a bit faded though.
