School Bus vs Hummer

Quote:
The crash was on Madison Avenue in Indianapolis.
"Police said Sabrina Trotter, 44, the driver of an Indianapolis Public Schools bus, stopped on the road to take a cell phone call from her mother.
Police said the driver of a Hummer, John Northrop, 54, was going northbound and was tuning his radio when he plowed into the back of the bus.
Northrop suffered minor injuries. Police ticketed Trotter for an improper stop."

The hummer slammed into the back of the bus so hard it lifted the wheels of the bus off the ground. It's fun to pick on hummers, but when you get in a crash like that and walk away (there's not even any blood on the airbag) it's pretty impressive. This is a case of bus vs. bigger bus. Bigger bus wins, but nobody gets hurt. Sub-compact vs. bigger bus doesn't end up so pretty.

even more impressive is that the driver survived in spite of the fact she was driving an imitation hummer. Though the H2 and H3 are technically "hummers" they are no relation to the H1 or military Hum-vee

I think its even more impressive how little the bus was hurt with doing that much damage to what is essentially a Tahoe.

Our skoolies really are built like tanks, a RV probably would have been crushed.

Does a skoolie qualify as an urban assault vehicle? People have said my bus looks like a prison bus with the way the windows are covered on the bottom.

a couple of "false" turrets on top would give you the impression of one *S* we saw air force trucks all the time in Co with a 30mm (?) or .50 cal on top..they run around checking on the silos out there.

gotta wonder how fast it was going before the sudden stop. Although I'm sure it wasn't a sudden stop unless the bus was broke down on the road.
Did you see how it managed to lift the right rear wheels off the ground?

Wow that H2 must have been flyin. I bet in just about anything else and that driver would have been killed.

I really don't get why people hate H2's so much. Its not a real hummer, but if you ask me thats a good thing. H1's are about the biggest pieces of crap on the road. I worked in a Hummer dealership (in the service department) last summer. You couldn't give me an H1, they're complete garbage. Yeah they're good off road.... when they run... which isn't often.

H2's on the other hand are basically a Tahoe... which is a rather reliable SUV to start with.

I think that's the problem most people have with them....they're like a bigger, but no more capable and less efficient hummer. Mostly I think people just don't like the drivers......cake eaters comes to mind....

I believe that is where it originates. It's a popular saying in Minnesota thanks to The Mighty Ducks.

From http://www.urbandictionary.com....

1. cake eater 149 up, 41 down

A cake eater actually refers to Edina, MN, saying the people in it are so rich they can have their cake and eat it too. It could also refer to rich white suburban kids in general, too. And BTW- Mighty Ducks was filmed in Minnesota, so he's probably literally calling that kid a cake-eater from Edina.

2. cake eater 42 up, 13 down

In Minnesota this goes as follows:

Usually used as a derogative term for calling a person of wealth a spoiled 'you have it too easy' piece of $hit brat!

Usually called to rich kids who drive BMWs and Mercedes-Benz's and get their college and college housing totally paid for and also get a hefty monthly allowance that's so great that they have absolutely no need to work in order to maintain their lavish lifestyle. This is a cake eater.

Hummers are a bummer! Just think of how they will be considered in another 50 yrs. Probably will appear in the history books as ridiculous. Of course in fifty years the history books will all be encompassed in computers!

Well according to the History Channel, history is only about religion, UFOs, and monsters.

Re: School Bus vs Hummer

I think it's idiotic that people pick on Hummers so much. While everyone here seems to get it, most don't understand that they don't even sell "real" Hummers anymore. But still... why pick on Hummers? They're nothing but a half-ton SUV, LESS of a truck than any 3/4 ton pickup. I've got a 4x4 crew-cab duallie Chevy that will drag an H2 backwards uphill, and no one seems to single it out. I don't have a Hummer or any plans to ever buy one, but I think it's ridiculous how the general public has latched onto that particular rig to trash on.
