I'm 98% finished with what I've had in my brain for a while. Where the heck do you put a system in a van-based shortie? The answer was underneath.
My tank pick up -pex line for the fuel-gas line for the water. Iv'e seen them all coiled up for the heat. I'm not worried-my tank is only 1 foot away from the filter.
My tank doesn't have any baffles-and I was worried about picking up fuel once it got low. So I made up this little chamber (out of a just out of a plastic jug. a couple of trapdoor might hold enuff to keep it from sucking air when low. (Idea taken from roadrace engines i build at work-they have baffled oil pans like this.
I made a steel plate and mounted some 100 lb drawer tracks.
I made sure everything would fit and be servicible if needed. Greasecar solinoids-generic remote oil filter mounts (for a Ford-3/4" X16 thread) The heater section is an oil cooler from a ford pick up. I had to make up an adapter to make it work.
I wanted to be able to shut off the coolant-just in case.
The hose is "push lock" from Mcmaster Carr. hi heat-hi press-strong stuff. Actually cheap too-only $1.20 a foot. Color coded just to be fancy. Happyness is never having to chase an air leak-or tighten a hose clamp.
Heres what it like retacted. The fuel hose bends nice-the heater hose I had to be a bit more careful to avoid kinks.
I pitched the tank down a bit towards the front to be sure the pick up stays under fuel. Next up is make the cover and a trap door.
