Re: Thoughts On WVO, & My Next Skoolie.

Hmm--my 1st question would be-why? There are sites like fillup4free.com + greasecar where you could find oil along your route. Do you have 400 gallons of oil kicking around? Any sources to get oil? 400 gallons is almost a years supply at the small places i get oil from. And when you get cross country-you have empty tanks-do you have a source to refill you tanks?
What I have seen done is rig it up so yo ucan collect dirty oil and filter onboard. Have a pump where you can dumpster suck into one tank-run hot coolant thru it-filter it in steps into another holding tank-one more filter into your run tank. As long as you can find willing oil donors along your route-all is good.

Re: Thoughts On WVO, & My Next Skoolie.

I sort of agree with dwarf. Ive had a small veggie oil pick up with a kit from Greasecar and am in the process of installing a Golden Fuel System on my Ford Shortie. Its quite easy to find oil on the road if you know where to look for it and the fillupforfree website is helpful. I mean if you wanna add the weight and can collect enough oil to fill those tanks before your trip then go for it, but as a back up I would really plan on being able to collect and filter while on the road. You'll also be looking at a large auxillary fuel pump to get it from the last tank to the engine. Maybe a 80-100 gallon oil fuel tank and use the rest as storge oil tanks and pump it to the fuel tank when needed. I would check out Golden Fuel Systems website. In all the reasearch Ive collected on conversion kits Golden Fuels seems to be the most knowledgable and reliable. They make conversion kits for larger vehicles and have numerous videos on YouTube. You wont regret converting.
