converting a diesel engine to run on veggie oil?

Our names are Ricky and Teresa Pike. We have a 1958 GMC PD 4104 Bus with a 6-71 detroit diesel engine...We are wanting to know if that kind of engine can be converted to a motor that runs on veggie oil?

Please feel free to email us back with a little details if it can be done. If it can, we are going to remodel the whole inside of the bus and travel the world....

Our personal email is rickyteresarickiann@yahoo.com
you may email there as well...

Hope to hear from you soon,
Ricky and Teresa Pike

Try contacting the folks at www.frybrid.com. They build advanced conversion kits and should be able to address the compatibility of your engine.

What's the exchange price of an old style unit injector now? Back when I ran '71's they were reasonable. That alternative fuel will probably waste 'em, but if cheap you could keep replacing them until you figure things out. Don't run them until the nozzle breaks off--that will cost.

Best to do on a non-turbo'd engine. You don't want to keep replacing that thing.

Hi Ricky and Teresa,
Yes 6-71's run great on WVO. I've been doing it for about 2500 miles.
