Maryland DMV expectations

I'm buying a bus in Maryland to convert to a skoolie, I will need to register it before bringing it home and am wondering what to expect when I go to the DMV. Of course I won't be able to register it as an RV because it won't be one.

Anyone have any tips for the best/easiest/cheapest route to go with a Maryland bus?

Re: Maryland DMV expectations

I bought 4 of the 6 items required for it to be an RV and had them reasonably usable on the bus when it was registered. I was able to show them receipts and a floor plan and they changed the title to RV and allowed registration. Based on those 4 things I declared it an RV to the Insurance company .. and since I am in fact a professional I marked it as a professional conversion.

What some people miss when they are thinking about how to declare their busses to the DMV and insurance is legally, it is an RV if it has 4 of the 6 items. You don't have to have your entire vision complete for it to qualify as an RV and there is NOTHING saying you can't remodel your property after it's registered and insured.

The only thing I cheezed on is total removal of the seats and paint which because I planned in advance, were taken care of within 36 hours of my taking possession of the bus. If I go to hell for that then so be it.
