Anybody else in Alabama?

Had a quote of 318 for insurance, now they wont even insure it. Progressive wants $777 a year for liability
anybody else here in Alabama? If so, what are you doing for insurance?

Re: Anybody else in Alabama?

Try GMAC. You can probably only get the bare minimums for your state. I don't remember what AL requires. I used to know when we lived in Chattanooga since we were so close to the state line. If you are already titled as a motorhome/RV then that is what you are insuring. Based on my dealings with the insurance companies, more than likely, they will never pay off on your bus, so I figure why pay them the higher premiums only to be told the bus is worthless. I'm still PO'ed at Nationwide and how they treated me when one of their customers hit my Caddy. They said my Caddy was worth $900 and they would buy it from me for that and total the car. I told them find me a Caddy, same year same shape (pre wreck) and we could swap Caddies. Got nowhere with that proposition. So I can image dealing with a insurance company over a home converted bus.

Re: Anybody else in Alabama?

I'm planning to buy my bus in Alabama. It seems like I need to get the title changed as soon as I get it and registration/ insurance right after that. What did you have to do to register as an rv? And any better luck with insuring it?

Re: Anybody else in Alabama?

I live in Huntsville. I used to be a truck driver and tried to park my bobtail in my driveway on the weekends, but I was hassled when I did that, so I moved out to the country where such restrictions don't exist.

Alabama probably has lower rates than many other states due to its population.

Re: Anybody else in Alabama?

Try National General (formerly GMAC) I got liability only for my shortie for $260/6 months. I tried applying online and over the phone and online was slightly cheaper. They also allow you to suspend coverage when the bus is in storage.
