short bus, dual AC--you can make a mobile walk in freezer with that thing

small wheels, flat floor (no wheel wells) inside? Double cool.

Flat floor would be SO awesome. I think I could squeeze into a 5 foot shorter bus if it had flat floors.

DON'T CUT THOSE JUMPER CABLES!!! not until you price welding cable per foot--usually (but not always) a lot cheaper. With copper these days, it is anyone's guess, though.

Re: Let the converting begin!!

I wouldn't buy a used fresh water tank.. When those tanks are neglected for too long they develop algae, mold, whatever. I purchased a sailboat with a neglected fresh water tank.. I won't drink out of it after seeing what was in there. I did my best to clean it, but it's not like you can reach inside and scrub it down. The best you can do is add bleach and slosh it around a bunch, then drain and hope most of the gunk came out.
I also generally have a problem with buying used potable water containers since you can't know fully what has gone into them. I've seen gasoline go into those blue camping jugs before (bad idea!).

New tanks can be found for cheap on eBay and Amazon. That's where I bought mine.

Re: Let the converting begin!!

I have to agree with Jazty --- spring for new in that area, they ain't expensive. You can spend months trying to clean up the ca-ca that builds up in those things and still have water that tastes disgusting. Better yet are the black ABS tanks. They don't put any plastic taste into the water (like the white stuff), won't grow mold and are cheap. Only drawbacks seem to be the limited sizes/configurations available.

Re: Let the converting begin!!

Water tank will be NEW, black, don't care but will need a very specific size and shape.

Bus won't ready to pick up until at least Friday, then I can get some better measurements.

Re: Let the converting begin!!

FWIW, yesterday I set up my new (uninstalled) 4.5 cu ft energy star fridge on the deck and plugged into the house. I switched to inverter last evening, the batts were at 12.51v. This morning, 9 hrs. later the batts are at 12.45v. About 500a of batts. (in my motorhome) It is in an unheated area ambient 70-50f.

Fridge draws 1.5a, about 165w running on 400w msw inverter (110v out)

Brandy new fridges are very fugal these days!!
