Anyone (else) using Compressed Natural Gas?

Yankeeflyer has his Thomas running on CNG. Anyone else doing this? Nothing against Yankee; I'm hoping for a sample size bigger than n=1.

I've thought about CNG for a skoolie. Probably I wouldn't convert my Winnebago because I may either sell it soon or barter for a school bus; conversion doesn't seem worthwhile on a vehicle one isn't going to keep long-term.

A CNG car wouldn't be a problem for use in and around Omaha because there are a couple of stations, one is nice and centrally located. On the other hand, according to the trip planner on http://www.cngprices.com, those Omaha-Cleveland runs my gf and I take would involve a 300-mile stretch from Des Moines to Chicago. Could be another route that takes longer would have more stations; haven't checked. Even with a large enough tank to last the required distance, it does mean some inflexibility. That in turn could require refueling at absolutely terrible times - like rush hour in Chicago, for instance.

An aside: we gave up on going meatless because all that soy protein gave us gas. Maybe if we could run lines to the engine from...um, never mind.

There's always propane. More fillup locations. How does CNG compare with propane?
