1997 Bluebird TC1000 Alternator
Hello all,
I'm a mechanic but new to buses. I just volunteered to help out with our church bus maintenance. One problem we're having right now is the alternator is putting out only 12 volts and the battery is going dead. The alternator was replaced about a year ago (before I got involved) and it looks like the wrong one was installed. This is on a '97 Bluebird TC1000 with the Cummins 5.9. They also have a '92 TC2000 with the same engine. After comparing the two it looks like the alternator they put in the '97 is a three wire and the wrong one. The chassis harness is a four wire, they just didn't connect the tach wire. I'm trying to figure out what the correct alternator is to be installed. I'm going to try to get some numbers from the alternator in the '92 when I get a chance, but all I can do is assume that is the correct alternator. Any assistance in figuring out the correct alternator for the '97 would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
