Hello from the uk, what an amazing site im living in my school bus and about to start refitting it out but its not a us school bus. They are a bit hard to find over here its a mercedes 811, ally bodied and was a 33 seater school bus! now its home, complete with wood burner and leather sofa
Spent many an hr looking at the wonderful pics of your buses and have been inspired to get the tools out and get busy

Re: Hello from the uk

no stove not dodgey tis my own design, rest of bus inside is but wont be for long, can burn coal as well and charcoal burns well, brings my kettle to the boil and cook on the hot plate when its lit, has a butterfly valve in the flue to help control burn rate

and this is fire proof board behind the ally sheeting that reflects the heat back into bus

yeh is 4" stainless flue but double skinned it through roof with some 5.5 steel flue so the heat dont transfare to the roof

Re: Hello from the uk

3mm ally plate on mild steel frame, but the way stove was built very little heat at the bottom so plate is touchable even when stove is running full pelt, and space under is just right size for drying wet running shoes, I sort of found a length of 4" stainless lyin in the workshop

Re: Hello from the uk

Hi John
Yes it is not the norm to live in a truck in the uk, often gettin moved on by the police, lots of camp sites have a no live in rule with the types af campers they let on site. Just back from a week away with a bunch of mates who mostly live in trucks and buses and had a fair few run ins but there was 57 of us in total inc kids
Some friends of mine live on canals and i think in years to come i would like that lifestyle but even that is gettin very hard and expensive, moorings are very hard to come by and quite a few don't allow full timers. Would love a skoolie but stealth is the only way to go in the uk, when on my own i get away staying in places i shouldnt as the merc sort of blends in
Fuel is very expensive here so thats another reason to rule out the skoolie as at the moment we pay £1.20/ litre
