What is this fluid reservoir?

Hello everyone.
I have a couple of buses. One being a newer one to me. It is a 1995 Thomas with a cummins 6cta 8.3 motor with an Allison mt643 transmission. Perhaps you are familiar with this pusher.

I haven't located a manual for it, so I am not exactly sure what everything is on it yet.

There is a large fluid reservoir next to the coolant reservoir that is empty. I am not sure what it is..
Transmission fluid? Hydraulic fluid?

It has four large hoses coming out of the bottom of it, one goes to the radiator fan motor, another to the bottom of the radiator, and the others connect to the motor in various places.

I'd post a picture, but the site won't let me. It says the board attachment quota has been reached.

Re: What is this fluid reservoir?

By your description it sounds like the hydraulic fluid reservoir, but as stated a photo would help. All the Thomas pushers I'm familiar with use hydraulic fluid to power the radiator fan.

Re: What is this fluid reservoir?

Can't say for sure without a picture, but It sounds like the hydraulic fluid reservoir. Probably for power steering, hydraulic cooling fan. The one going to bottom of radiator is for cooling. I can't say about Thomas, on my 91 Bluebird it uses motor oil, not hydraulic fluid.

This is mine.

Re: What is this fluid reservoir?

I have the same motor/trans combo and I'd agree with the other posts. Reservoir for the fan and power steering and probably with an oil cooler. Mine, like Somewhere uses motor oil. 10w30 to be exact. Use the sight glass or there should be a little dip stick from the top.
