Crown Front Suspension Retrofit?
A question for you mechanically inclined (AKA grease monkey) skoolies...especially you Crown Coach guys (and gals?):
My 1990 Crown Super Coach II has airbag rear suspension, but leaf spring front suspension. The front end tends to bounce more than I would like while driving. I'm considering having the front suspension replaced with an airbag retrofit. What do you think about the practicality of such a project? Is it even possible? Are we talking big bucks? Have any of you ever done this with your skoolie?
If Crown was still in business I could contact their tech support but of course Crown as an enterprise is long gone, more's the pity.

Could be the shocks might be the culprit.

Just like on a car, if bad will let suspension bounce
Take them off and try to compress and extend you can tell if they are bad, they won't have resistance

Oooo...nice. That should set you back more than the bus is worth. LOL!

Re: Crown Front Suspension Retrofit?
Thanks for the link Nat. No pricing info but looks expensive. That would replace the steering axle too, but I wonder if there's any kit that would just replace the leaf springs only. Might save some money that way.

Re: Crown Front Suspension Retrofit?
$7500! That's 4 times what the whole bus cost.
Thanks for the Firestone link. That might prove quite helpful. I'll probably have it professionally installed though, if I do it.
As for the "kneeling down" part, I was thinking more along the lines of adapting the air suspension for automatic leveling. Maybe there are kits out there for that sort of thing...

Re: Crown Front Suspension Retrofit?
My guess was at least five grand. It seems I was a little low.
