Defrost help!!!!

I have a thoms 3800 with a T444e Diesel. I removed the rear heater and looped the two lines together this summer while finishing the inside. We finished the floor and are ready to take it hunting and I can't get the heater/ defrost to work. I have turned the valve on inside and opened the valves on the engine. Blowers work but no heat. What have I done.

Re: Defrost help!!!!

Do the coolant hoses get warm to the touch? If all the valves are open and the hot coolant is flowing, then I'm suspicious that the problem lies in the "loop" you created when removing the rear heater. With the way my Thomas' coolant system is plumbed it made the most sense to actually terminate the rear heater lines, instead of looping them. The front and rear heaters were tee-ed off, not inline. Plugging the rear heater lines forces all coolant to go through the main heater core.

The lines do get warm. Does the defrost come the heater by the door or the heater by the driver. The loop I made is the supply and return from the rear heater connected about 12 inches from the heater by the drivers seat. Several people on here had succes with it.

Re: Defrost help!!!!

In my bus the defrost came from the heater next to the driver. Actually, I think the one by the door was also connected to the defrost vents. It's a smaller heater, though, so would likely just be helping out. The big one is the driver side heater. It's easy to open for inspection, too. There are a couple screws on the faceplate. Once you remove them you can pull the whole panel off and see all the heater components. That's the one that would be affected by looping the lines (Iess coolant being pushed through that core, since the path of least resistance is to follow the open, looped path).

Re: Defrost help!!!!

big air bubble in the heater core?

if both lines get hot that wouldnt be the case, does the actual heater core get hot to the touch?

if it does and the fans work, is there a manual vent open close? maybe it's blowing hot air but it cant get to the windshield
