Re: Why are 1-ton buses always priced higher?

I've wondered the same thing. I want a bus like the one you have in your Avatar.

Re: Why are 1-ton buses always priced higher?

I think it might have to do with supply and demand. I think there are probably far fewer 1-ton buses produced compared to fullsize rigs. That's the supply end of things. Then I see far more 1-tons converted for commercial purposes, racing, etc so that takes care of the demand side of things.

More fullsizes and less overall demand=bad news for someone in the market for a 1-ton chassis bus.

For what it's worth I've been keeping my feelers out for you, ShortBus.

Re: Why are 1-ton buses always priced higher?

I heard somewhere that a lot of church's like them because they can put 15 or less passengers in them and the driver does not need a CDL, plus they would have more room for cargo than a 15 passenger van. I don't know if that's completely why they cost so much, probably a combination of things.

If you are still looking.... I just took delivery of the larger bus I needed, and of it checks out ok, I will soon be able to let go of my Mini bus. It is a 89 Ford 1 ton (dually) E-350 commercial cutaway, with Thomas Built coachwork. It has driver seat only, a working wheelchair lift, and a brand new (used once) reciever hitch, trailer brake controller, and trailer connector, all professionally installed. (I haven't figured out a price, yet, but I would make a big discount to someone who NEEDS the lift, for themselves, or a family member.)

Tom

p.s. It is located on the border between Washington and Oregon.
