Re: Living in denial: Why sensible people reject the truth

Lily, I could only get about 6 paragraphs before I stopped reading. I am one of the simple folks your article speaks of and I AM PROUD OF IT! Instead of typing out some long novel trying to answer your post, I will stick to just posting a list of facts. I am not a koolaid drinker and I'm not about to start now but I do hope some of the things that I post will open your eyes to the truth.

Al Gore is a liar. Just kidding, I was just seeing if you were paying attention.

Al Gore left office with less than $2 million in listed assets. Now his worth is estimated at over $100 million. He made a single investment of $35 million in a hedge fund.

Al Gore charges over $100,000(I've heard as much as $175,000) for each speaking engagement. If he is so passionate about global warming, why doesn't he just charge his expenses.

Al Gore wants you to ride a bike while he flies around in private jets.

Al Gore Sr. (AL Gore Jr.'s father) voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964.(How people voted seems to be the hot topic on MSNBC)

Numbers and percentages of D's and R's that voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The original House version:[10] (for-against)

* Democratic Party: 152-96 (61%-39%)
* Republican Party: 138-34 (80%-20%)

Cloture in the Senate:[11]

* Democratic Party: 44-23 (66%-34%)
* Republican Party: 27-6 (82%-18%)

The Senate version:[10]

* Democratic Party: 46-21 (69%-31%)
* Republican Party: 27-6 (82%-18%)

The Senate version, voted on by the House:[10]

* Democratic Party: 153-91 (63%-37%)
* Republican Party: 136-35 (80%-20%)

It's obvious that Republicans are the racist by looking at this vote.

Source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_R...64#Vote_totals

I will have more later.

Re: Living in denial: Why sensible people reject the truth

For all of you out there in America and across the globe who have fought
so hard to tackle the hideous enemy of our planet, namely carbon
emissions, that bogus god you worship named "Climate Change" or "Global
Warming", there is some really bad news that will be very painful for
you to process. But it is my duty to pass it on to you anyway.

Are you sitting down?

Okay, here's the bombshell. The current volcanic eruption going on in
Iceland, since it first started spewing volcanic has in one week's time,
NEGATED EVERY SINGLE EFFORT you have made in the past five years to
control CO2 emissions on our planet. Not only that, this single act of
God has added emissions to the earth estimated to be 42 times more than
can be corrected by the extreme human regulations proposed for annual
reductions.

I know, I know.... (have a group hug)...it's very disheartening to
realize that all of the carbon emission savings you have accomplished
while suffering the inconvenience and expense of driving Prius hybrids,
buying fabric grocery bags, sitting up til midnight to finish your kid's
"The Green Revolution" science project, throwing out all of your
non-green cleaning supplies, using only two squares of toilet paper,
putting a brick in your toilet tank reservoir, selling your SUV's. RV's,
powerboats, ceased driving classic cars and motorcycles for recreation,
going on vacation to a city park instead of Yosemite, nearly getting hit
every day on your bicycle, replacing all of your $1 light bulbs with $10
light bulbs ...well, all of those things you have done have all gone
down the tubes in just the past week.

The volcanic ash emitted into the Earth's atmosphere in the past week
has totally erased every single effort you have made to reduce the evil
beast, carbon. And, those hundreds of thousands of American jobs you
helped move to Asia with expensive emissions demands on businesses...
you know, the ones that are creating even more emissions than when they
were creating American jobs, well that must seem really worthwhile now.

I'm so sorry. And I do wish that there was some kind of a silver lining
to this volcanic ash cloud but the fact of the matter is that the brush
fire season across the western U.S.A. will start in about two months and
those fires will negate your efforts to reduce carbon emissions in our
world for the next two years.

So, grab a Coke, give the world a hug, and have a nice day!

Abbott, That is interesting... Is there a source for that data?

I was looking at "Information is Beautiful" the other day (they draw graphics of various things) and they had this data:

Re: Living in denial: Why sensible people reject the truth

Quote:
Britain's premier scientific institution is being forced to review its statements on climate change after a rebellion by members who question mankind's contribution to rising temperatures.

The Royal Society has appointed a panel to rewrite the 350-year-old institution's official position on global warming. It will publish a new "guide to the science of climate change" this summer. The society has been accused by 43 of its Fellows of refusing to accept dissenting views on climate change and exaggerating the degree of certainty that man-made emissions are the main cause.

The society appears to have conceded that it needs to correct previous statements. It said: "Any public perception that science is somehow fully settled is wholly incorrect - there is always room for new observations, theories, measurements." This contradicts a comment by the society's previous president, Lord May, who was once quoted as saying: "The debate on climate change is over."

Just keep in mind, These morons cant even remember that the earth wobbles in its orbit and this wobble causes 100-150ish year heating and cooling cycles, to which we have been in a heating cycle for awhile now. Too bad I dont expect to be around for the next cooling cycle, would be fun to watch everyone panic about the "Impending ICE AGE!!!"

For you crazy cal … no informed denialist scumbag would even bring up that tired out old comment about Science telling everyone that we were entering an ice age back in the 60s-70’s because they got their dumb asses whooped many years ago with that comment.
The FACT of the matter is a few scientists thought we were entering an ice age – the media picked it up and ran with it … but the prevailing view of Science back then was the same as it is now …. They knew the planet was warming up from our Carbon use .
GET with the times Cal ..not even that great American Rush Limbaugh would try rehashing old false history like this…

Also –bringing up AL Gore as some defense against the Reality of GLOBAL WARMING is a game dimwitted little kid’s play.
No adult would try to kill the message by negating the messenger – ADULTS would at least stick with the Science.
Al Gore and 1000’s of hypocritical environmentalist types could fly around in a hundred jets for years and that still wouldn’t negate the actual Science.

I consider it an honor to be called an uninformed denialist scumbag by a piece of trash like you. It only means that I am hitting close to the truth. I deal with people on a regular basis that believe this crap and spew their nonsense as they are boarding their private jet.

I wouldn't really give a **** if each and every one of these pricks had their own personal oil spill in their front yard. It's the fact that there are thousands of these jerkoffs passing legislation that affects or will affect me and my life. My footprint on this planet is pretty small because I choose it to be, not because the government makes me.

Get a life asshole.

P.S. Welcome to the forum.

Re: Living in denial: Why sensible people reject the truth

It occurs to me that the real deniers are those who, in spite of all the recently revealed data tampering fraud ("Climategate") and other evidence showing AGW to be the biggest of all lies and the most gargantuan of all hoaxes, and is so obviously a concerted power grab by the global political elite, and yet persist in their delusion that humans have any influence whatsoever on climate, when in fact the only significant influence on climate is a collossal nuclear fusion reaction of gases a millon times more massive than the entire Earth and stares them in the face beginning each and every day at sunrise.

I also notice that Lily has had nothing further to add after being effectively rebuked.

As for Michael and Millie Shaw, this poster is nothing but a troll with only 2 posts so far, using the tired old leftist tactic of unwarranted ad hominem attacks, in a futile attempt to discredit his/her opponent personally, rather than refutation on the merits of the argument itself. I half expect his/her next post will include calling his/her opponents rascist. How trite.

M&M, you won't convince anyone with personal insults. But I suppose that's all you have since your positions themselves are completely without merit and cannot withstand the scrutiny of open and logical debate backed by actual facts.

Re: Living in denial: Why sensible people reject the truth

I looked at your website Mr. Eco-Friendly Skoolie Buddy. So tell me what kind of carbon footprint that skoolie of yours has? I'm sure you pulled the motor and had one of those super clean burning diesel motors installed with the new particulate traps that California is making our truckers, construction companies and farmers install at an expense of $20,000-$40,000. This is being done because of mush heads like you in the California Air Resources Board.

How about that smoke stack you got shoved through the roof? I'm sure it's an EPA certified wood pellet stove. I doubt it.

How about when you pumped your waste into the pit toilet in the mountains. Was that your your pit toilet? I doubt that one also. Dumping your poo-poo out in the mountains. How environmentally friendly and illegal. Maybe you pumped it into a Park Service toilet. I'd be willing to bet that is illegal also you hypocritical P.O.S.

From your website.
Quote:
Here's a picture of our macerator pump hooked up and doing its job up in the mountains ...
Because we were able to pump out in Pit Toilets and purify our drinking water which we got from streams and rivers, this gave us an unlimited amount of time camping out in pretty out-of-the-way spots...

I have looked at your website in the past and thought about buying some things. I'm sure that won't happen anytime real soon. Maybe I will boycott THE MOBILE HOMESTEAD and mobilehomestead.com because you said mean things about me.

That's pure bullshit Michael & Millie Shaw and your personal attacks against those who disagree with your radical politics (based off of your posts here and quotes on your website) are as stupid as they are deceitful and boring. Al Gore should be prosecuted just like Bernie Madoff was. The Mobile Homestead is nothing more then a hateful far-left joke. However I do think that the Mobil Homestead has a nice ring to it .

So I guess you ROCKET Scientists here on this forum know so much more than 1000’s of highly trained men and women , 1000’s of highly regarded universities , and a myriad of scientific orgs … because you great thinkers heard some fake news somewhere telling you that Global Warming was some myth perpetrated by a cabal of evil scientists working with Al Gore .
