4x4s and Wheeling Rigs...

I noticed that there are a few members on here that the main duty their skoolie will perform is towing a wheeling rig... I spend as much time as I can on the trails with my family and friends... So, I figured it would be a great idea to start a thread to give your wheeler a shout out...

Please fell free to post up some pics, specs, trip reports...

I'll get us started...

Name's Luey, I wheel a 79 K5 Blazer that has been highly modified... I cut everything off of it except part of the floor, firewall and windshield hoop... Then built it for the PNW trails... I'm currently the Vice-President of Wheelers Of Washington, a non-profit association that builds, maintains and cleans our local trail systems...

Specs for the Blazer:

Mild built sb 350 that runs on propane, th400, twin sticked np205, dana 60 front w/ custom knuckles and behind the axle high steer, 14 bolt full float rear w/ disc brake conv, 4:56 gears welded f/r, full hydraulic steering, 38.5" Super Swamper SX tire that have been custom grooved, 52" springs front w/ 7 1/2" shackles, 56" springs rear w/ shackle flip and 6" custom shackles, Warn 8274 winch w/ synthetic rope, narrowed 12" front, doved 22" rear, bobbed 14" rear, 1530 joints all the way around, custom roll cage, sliders, bumpers... I've basically built it from the ground up...

well here's my 4x4 BEAST it was mostly a stock 1971 k10 auto when i got it in 2004. i took the th350 out in faver of the sm465 i still have the np205 but working on getting all the parts to put together a sm465,np203,np205 so i don't fave to go any depper in gears. but right now this is how it sits, mild 350 4bolt main, sm465, np205, hddana44, eaton full floter 4.56 gears and 17/40/15s and i will have a 12,000lbs winch at both end cause it is a tank, i think it is 5600+lbs and i like over kill so the little 9000lb winches can all go on the little toys.

I'm Nate,

I live in central Iowa, just south of Des Moines. Iowa has no public wheeling areas. So it is only left to private grounds. My wheeling club is 4x4Syndicate. We formed the club about 5 years ago for like mined wheelers. We also found some ground about the same time. Which is amazing. By far the hardest wheeing ground in Iowa, and also ranks right up to some of our travels. We as a club travel usually plan for 5-6 trips a year out of state trying to hit the 5++ trails.

My rig is a 97 tj. The pictures are older when it was on 37"krawlers. It is now on one tons , 42's, and stretched front and rear. However, it hasn't left the garage yet since I started the bus conversion. I hope to be done with the bus by spring so we can take it on some out of state trips next year.

Nothing hard-core, but my wife has a 1986 K-5 Blazer that now has a Tatonka Products Bummer body due to the stock body rotting away. It's pretty simple...6.2 diesel, TH700, NP208, 10-bolt axles with what I think are 3.73 gears, 33x12.50R15 tires. (35's or even 37's would clear but would require regearing.) Unfortunately, the engine is pretty tired with over 200K on it & starting to lose compression.

This was my last set up. Towed decent, and good for close weekend stuff, but not so much for week long travels. Also the jeep will not fit on there now. So i sold the popup this spring, and a few other parts, to buy the bus and enough left over to get it painted.

I got rid of our pop-up a few days after buying the bus...

I was getting ready to re-build my trailer and make it a goose neck and mount the pop-up in the front the same way you did... I bought a bus instead...

I've been wanting to do it for years and never got around to it... Plus I was looking for a shorter pop-up than the one we had to make it fit easier...
