1984 thomas

Hello all....

Got me a bus
Its a nice bus, about 90% converted! Its a 1984 Ford Thomas with a Remanufactured Detroit Diesel 8.2 with 24,000 miles. Odometer reads 235,000.
I need to do some maintenance and make sure its road worthy. My first concern is the breaks. I've only driven it a couple miles around the block, it slows down but doesn't seem to have much breaking power, at all, I mean you have to pump the pedal and put it to the floor to stop. Is that normal? What should I do? I will include pictures soon.
Breaks housing says Girling, the pot/spring break thing is a Maxibreak H.

Please post the pics here individually using the "IMG" button above the text window, or put them in a public gallery so we can see them.

I tried the img thing, it didn't work. are you able to access the photobucket pictures link I posted?

Anyway, how realistic is it to rebuild the brakes, should I just pay a professional to service them? Money is an issue so I'd rather wrench on it my self if I can, but I was hoping some of you geniuses could share a few words about brake maintenance, anything!

No, you need to set the photobucket Album to public.

Just make them public, and I will post them for you till you get it figured out.

We need pics.

Hi,

Re: 1984 thomas

Find out where your local bus repair yard get their parts.

Here it's a place called "The Bus Center"
