Floor prep?

Finally got the seats, rubber floor and plywood up. Floor looks good minimal rust with the normal numerous screw holes. I plan on caulking the holes and covering with aluminum tape. Insulation board, moisture barrier and 1/2 inch plywood covered with vinyl plank flooring. My question is what do I paint the floor with prior to insulating and do I need an additional rust preventative prior to painting? If anyone sees something wrong with my plans please share.

Re: Floor prep?

Scrub the floor clean with TSP.
Spray out the bus with water.
Let dry.
Spray down a layer of Ospho to etch the zinc.
Let dry.
Paint with Rustoleum Pro primer.
Let dry. Open the windows to get ventilation or it will take forever.
Paint with Rustoleum Pro top coat or two.

Re: Floor prep?

Tri-Sodium Phosphate Heavy Duty Cleaner that cleans pretty much anything also a TSP substitute as TSP is not enviromentally friendly and cannot get into the waterways.

Generally found in the paint dept.

Re: Floor prep?

Ospho is more than just phosphoric acid. The website says "SKYCO OSPHO: a balanced formula of Phosphoric, Dichromate, Wetting Agents and Extenders..." It is good stuff.
