Singleton's is where I picked up the Door for generator Compartment.

These are REALLY nice people who own it.

They went out of their way to make sure they shipped it to me using the most inexpensive shipping method they could find.

That's pretty unusual ...most places rip us off bigtime on shipping when they find out we live in Alaska.

Plus they're REALLY Honest folks too...I was going to order a used Air-Conditioner from them , but they called me up and told me they did'nt want to sell it to me . Because it needed a few parts that would cost too much to ship to me ...and they did'nt think that was fair to me.

Now ...that's what I call Honesty .

Just posted about this place on another forum. They have pretty good prices on awnings and other stuff. The service is pretty good, at least it was for the stuff I ordered. So far they have beat the prices for all other awnings that I have looked at (price + ship is what I look at).

2 more salvage yards

1. Goodies Truck parts - 1800 537 8690 fax- 419 476 9589
- located in Ohio and specialing in truck parts - good for engine parts

2. Myers Equipment - 1800 232 7649 or 330 533 5556
- also located in Ohio and specialing in school buses
Myers had the dash for my bus for $50 plus $5 for shipping, I was quoted over $600 for a new dash.

trx mentioned http://www.rvsurplussalvage.com. I recomend, if you are within driving distance, visit their warehouse! Their website only lists about 10% of what they actually have there too. I have visited their twice and picked up some nice windows for my skoolie for real cheap. Im about to make another trip for some cargo doors. Its not too far from Toledo, about 3 hours. Also, everything is inside so it stays dry. Check em out!

Here’s a few good links for ‘alternative energy ‘ type stuff and a few other things that folks can add on their rigs….

I ordered a lightweight solar collector (hot water heater) from these folks

http://www.thesolar.biz/SolarRoofs_Hot_ ... ectors.htm

Which should get here next week…it cost $230.00 plus shipping which makes it the most affordable collector out there.
It would be really hard to build a good one yourself for so little.

This link is for Solar air heaters…
These things work great and are very easy to build…
They sell kits to build them plus have online plans that show folks how to build one for themselves….
http://www.solar-components.com/SOLARKAL.HTM

Here’s a link for a solar water purifier …..this thing would be really easy to build yourself…..
http://www.safewatersystems.com/General ... %20Summary

If anyone is in the same situation I am …living on an island with hardly any stores to buy affordable stuff…then here’s a great online resource for kitchen cabinets.
http://www.kitchencabinetdepot.com/

They sell great cabinets at very low prices…I just mostly finished an entertainment cabinet using cabinets I bought from them. I was really surprised they made such good quality stuff for so little.
Here’s the cabinet….

Don't forget your local auto salvage yards! While they DO occasionally get RVs and travel trailers, ya never know when, so you need to check around frequently!

BTW, JACK'S Auto Salvage in N. Billerica MA still has a 1978-vintage RV with a Dodge drive train, factory AC. (it's parked WAY in the back with the vintage trucks). While most of the little stuff is gone, there's STILL a good 19-foot RV awning on it, and two (2) Coleman rooftop AC units.
Coleman stuff is hard to kill, I'm betting they still work. I partly disassembled one of the units' interior parts, mostly to see how they installed the thing. All of the parts are still there.

Plus there's the RV roof ladder to salvage, the tub/shower base, who knows what else....maybe the 30 amp shore cord?

I use ebay power sellers a lot, and also rvsurplussalvage as shown above. One I didn't see mentioned was http://www.ronthebusnut.com who has some items of interest. One thing I saw he has that I'd really like to get is Sleep number beds in "RV Queen Short" for around $450 which is very affordable for a sleep number bed!!

So...what does short mean? My 6'5" hulk needed a real queen because a twin was causing me back problems. It turns out that having 8 inches of feet and legs hanging over the end of the bed isn't good for you. I'd just like to know in case I'm ever pricing new stuff out for my bus. For the record, all the twins in my bus are 6'6" long so even I fit.

RV Queen Short is what comes standard in most RV's... If you're that tall, they do offer regular size beds, even king size!!

United Truck Body is a good place to look. Tim has many parts on hand and the conncetions to get more as needed for the actual bus itself. It's not Canada, but 150 miles from Ontario isn't far.

except I'm at the other end in BC. And I dont have to many good experiences with ordering from the states. It works but only if you have lots of time. Sometimes items are held up at customs for no apparent reason for weeks.
