Ludicrous Speed

Door frame, removed.

Got the hole for the stairwell cut out and that was it for the night.

that is sorta what i did when i put the rv door about 3 feet ahead of the rear wheels.. left the emergency door on the other side. mine - i put the door where i could use part of the back compartment for the bottom step. also put a rv door where the original steps were for the generator.

Lookin' Good Guys! --- I have to admit I have recently become really jealous of anyone with a "square" bus...i.e.;...one with nice, straight walls. My shorty has a very slight inward curve (so slight I didn't even notice until I started de-constructing things) that makes everything many times more difficult to deal with. I just started over on my front door. Not only do I have to accommodate the curve, but the front edge is straight...only the back edge has the arch. And it isn't a nice, neat rectangle...nooooo...it has a slope part way up that follows the windshield. I tossed my first try at a workable frame and have just begun another attempt. Arrrggghhh! I need someone with old fashioned boat building skills to help out on this one.

We have been extremely lucky on this door installation so far. The frame pieces are the perfect width for our chosen door, and we only had to remove one of the overhead braces to get it to fit. Everything just seemed to line up. *Knocking on wood furiously*

We have been working on possible color schemes, and have narrowed it down (probably) to one of these three. Opinions?

Top one reminds me of the paint on our bus when we got it (same colours). I don't care for the bottom one at all. Too much white.

All of them look great, but I'd hate to have to keep the last one clean!

The green is cool. Would look great in a campground. Where are you getting your paint, and what kind have you settled on using?

We were kind of blah about the last one as well.

We will probably use rustoleum for the paint.

the thomas busses have a slight inward tilt toward the top and are not totally straight.. top is in around 2 inches narrower than belt line.
i like the top bus pic..

At first glance, the top one appeals to me the most. Ironic since I'm going with a white & green theme myself.

Dont' settle for rustoleum if they don't have the color you want. If you have an Ace Hardware nearby, checkout their "Rust Stop" brand metal paint. If they carry paint, they should be able to tint it any color you desire. <-- (Thank Lorna for that tip )

I second that.... We're in the middle of painting our bus with Ace hardwares "Rust Stop". Tinted to a color sample from Home Depot.

By the way, I vote for the blue sample.

Personally, I like the green. But it needs flames!
