The Brown Crown

Postby browncrown » Fri Apr 18, 2008 1:01 pm

This is my 1976 Crown conversion. I have been working on it now for nearly 3 years and have really had a great time doing it. The bus is equipped with a Detroit Diesel 671 engine and a Fuller 910RT 10-speed manual transmission. The project is still a work in progress, but finished to the point where I can camp and travel in it. I hope you enjoy the pictures. I have really enjoyed looking at the great work the rest of you have done with your projects!

Here are some early photos of the conversion work. I started with the shower and bathroom area and then some closet space near the back bed area.

I really like your colors and the interior looks very comfortable too. 10 speed sounds like you would never run out of gears. Nice bus. Looks like a shiney penny.

Nice work!!! I really like the looks of those old Crown and Gilligs, I guess I like well rounded things. :)

I have recently installed some new cabinets in the bedroom area which gives me a litle more space for storage. The downside was moving the bed, so now you can't walk around it, but I have found it was worth it for the storage. As soon as I can figure the way, I'll post photos of the new work. :)

A lot of really good buses are shown here and as I said before everybody's doing really good work, but clearly the first page of this thread is going to be people just going wow! From the shiny baby Moon's and chrome acorn nuts to that drop dead gorgeous oak carpentry with the perfectly matched ceiling. I'm glad you said it took years, I don't feel so bad about taking years myself. As you can see by the welcome everyone's pretty glad to see your pictures and your work, I wonder how many more undiscovered jewels are out there in America being worked on.

Like the others have said -- pictures -- they make for such great inspiration for everyone.

Happy New Year
