Sloppy Yellow
My name is Dan & today I bought a 96 Thomas bus. I have an old camper that I no longer want to patch. I figure I will move the electric, cabinets, sink, etc into the bus. I have an infield spot at Texas Motor Speedway and will also take it to the deer lease. It's not going to be fancy, but hopefully FUNctional. Looking forward to getting to know y'all.

Welcome DanMan! --- And I'll second DieselDan...YeeeHaw...another Texan! Sounds like a rig that just might wind up with a big ol' viewing platform on the roof but either way, do keep the pix coming.

Re: Sloppy Yellow
Thanks for the greetings. I won't be putting a rack on the bus. My camper is so old that it leaks everywhere & I bought the bus so I wouldn't have to repair that $ pit any longer. I'm going to completely remove everything but the floor & rack from the camper & keep it as is. That way I can pull it out to TX Motorspeedway & view the race from there. My spot happens to be big enough to fit both the bus & rack. (Though I may have to shorten the camper frame a little). Here's pics of the rack I'm saving.
I bought the bus for $600. I have the tanks, electric, plumbing, cabinets, stove, etc from the camper to relocate to the bus. I'm hoping to spend less than $1k additional to make her FUNctional. Just a little worried about getting the title transferred to RV, but I've read a lot of posts on here regarding that process.

Re: Sloppy Yellow
Drove it home yesterday and the driver rear wheel seal leaked. It sat in the same spot since last June when to delivered its last load of students home. Hopefully it won't cost too much to repair. But man! There is nothing like driving your bus home. Can't wait to start ripping out the seats.

Re: Sloppy Yellow
I love that rack. Wow
Wheel seals are common when a bus (MDT) sits around not moving. Our picker truck, Tree spade, ect all leak. I started using RTV Silicone in there, rather than the gasket. The RTV won't harden up over time without oil exposure like the gasket.

Re: Sloppy Yellow
How is this for functional? Utilities here water, electric, garbage and sewer. Use a Mr. Heater catalitic for heat. Propane. Safe indoors.

Ummmm.... I'm not quite sure how we are supposed to react to this. Drink more water, I guess?

[code][quote][Here are some photos of the work done. Haven't been pushing it much but race is in April & we have a lot of work to do. Taking the rack off my trailer wasn't very hard. Putting it on the bus I expect to be harder lol.
