Birth of The Warthog
So now I have succombed to the desire of converting my very own skoolie. Picked this baby up in Chattanooga the day before yesterday.
Pretty stoked about starting it, but will have to wait until May when I get the time off. But in the mean time it will be parked and get started
every other week to keep it lubed and primed.
Decided to name it "The Warthog" in honor of the A-10's the Army flies.

Had..... a 2003 1L (1000cc). Kinda grew up and got old and now ride the big boys. (dad talked me into a harley) So now I have an 06 Ultra Classic. But I can't pull wheelies on that, believe me I do have my days that I miss my old Suzuki!

Welcome to the Madhouse! --- Looks like you found a great platform to build on. BTW...I'm a Warthog fan too and years ago was talking with an old fart pilot (even older than me) who flew missions in P-47's during WWII. The most common nickname for that plane was "The Jug", but according to him, just as many were called "Warthogs" making it the first in that distinguished line of ground attack aircraft.
Anyhow, welcome...and keep the pix coming.

Nice one man. you will love working on your project. We had to wait about 5 months before we could get started. It's nice to have all that time to think about everything. It really makes us more comfortable with all the fore thought. (but we still have to pretty much wing it) Warthog is a cool name as well.

That's funy. I saw one of those years ago but never paid too much attention to it. Looks like there are some that are worth some cash now. 1 on ebay for a bit over a grand!

Yeah, I am on rev1.7 of my floor plan, but keep changing it...... I figure once I get my layoff for the season it will be Ludicrous speed on the demo!!!

I absolutely agree - the A10 was a clean and simple design concept that worked. Take a big ass 30mm Gatling gun that fires over 4000 rounds a minute...then wrap just enough airplane around it to annoy bad guys. The sound of that GAU-8 was music to our guys ears, but not greatly appreciated by anyone else. I've seen unedited gun camera footage taken from both Air America ships as well as some F4 Phantoms from my ship during that Viet Nam thing that made my blood run cold. And those were just 20mm. And now you can buy a 40mm version. Maybe that's what the "New Improved Warthog" will be built around.
Now...if I could just mount one on my bus...Bring on the Zombies!

Can someone tell me if the emergency exit alarms are a simple clip and remove or will the buzzers stay on after? I want to remove all the internal wiring and start new. I know I don't have to, but I want to run them in a manner that is easier to access should I have any problems.

Be careful clipping wires at the emergency doors. Some switches disable the starter. If the doors are locked, my engine wont start.

This may be a late post, but on a Thomas you can just clip the wires. The buzzer only comes on when the wire is grounded, either through a switch on the emergency doors or when the emergency window is open. Cut the wires and you remove the ability to ground them. You can take any of the wires and touch them to the chassis and get the buzzers to sound.

Never too late to leave a tip! (Although I already got the unnecessary electrical removed!) I just need to make sure that when I rewire the inside, I re-hook up my top strobe. I decided it would be a good idea to keep it just in case I am in need of attention during a break down or a foggy day.
I clipped the wire to the back door while the bus was running and then put it in gear to see if it would move and it did, then I shut it off and restarted it to figure it out. So you are right on the money about clip n go!

OK, so I have ordered a RIDICULOUS amount of stuff for my bus. And I am getting all geared up to tackle the project for a month straight!
However,
I am finding a hard time justifying the grey water tank costing almost twice as much as my potable water tank.
Anyone using a second fresh tank for grey storage?
Advisement is requested please!
