1959 International Conversion
I'm new to the site. This 1959 International Harvester Bus Conversion has been in the family for about 20 years. The original conversion was done by a ship builder, but I have made many upgrades since then. It is fully self-contained with solar panels, flat screen TV, satellite radio & stereo, kitchen (oven & stove) & dining, bathroom, sleeps 4. My dad & mom lived in it for 15 years full time, travelling 289,000 miles during that time. It now has a new 345 engine and a re-built transmission, so it's good for another 289,000 miles! I will post a few more pictures in another post. I have to admit, I have to old school bus conversion bug and whenever we travel, it generates a lot of curiosity and interest from other campers.

It's amazing that your folks used it as their primary home for 15 years. Beautiful bus! Can't wait to see the inside!

Re: 1959 International Conversion
welcome and nice ride; is that a porta-boat strapped to the side?

Re: 1959 International Conversion
yes it is a boat strapped on the side.I have a 8 horse yamaha out board motor that fits in the pod on the back bumper so I have a good boat for fishing and getting out on the lakes if need be. Works great.

Re: 1959 International Conversion
What are those white storage boxes on the roof? Are they weatherproof and lockable? I’m looking for a something similar for the roof of my own conversion.

Re: 1959 International Conversion
They are indeed waterproof lockable storage pods. You can probably get them from places like NAPA autoparts and they screw into the roof. Very handy.
