Re: Somewhereinusa
Wow, that is a sturdy mount. I plan to stow my monitor when I travel. Of course I only have one computer and laptop.
My Computer work area is also my dinning table.

Re: Somewhereinusa
Very cool monitor stand! It's almost got a steam-punk look to it. What type of finish do you use to get that rich, ultra-glossy surface in the table?

It's just 3 coats of gloss spar urethane.

Onboard showers are very, very important! The bathhouse is such a hassle.
I finally gave up on getting my 2007 desktop in a good spot. It's dying of old age anyway. It will sit on my night stand (very bad place) until I replace it. I have settled on popping my desktop's hard drive and CD/DVD RW in exterior cases and just getting a good (Cowboom.com cheap) laptop with a large display. I figure we can use it while traveling too (Streets & Trips with GPS). One of my daughters was over here last weekend with her new boyfriend (she got rid of dipshit who STOLE our air compressor we had left for her to use along with two air hoses as well as a pile of her stuff including what he thinks is her birth certificate... WHY?). New boyfriend had one of those tiny GPS thingy in his car and David says he could not see a thing on it (we rode down to Carlsbad in his car). So we need a really big screen on the "GPS". I figure I can shove my wireless all-in-one printer/scanner in a closet on a rollout shelf. I don't use it much but when I need it, I need it. Yet another change! See what happens when you take too long to convert!

Re: Somewhereinusa
I have found that if you hit Bestbuy just right you can score a great laptop for thievery type prices. They run $100 or $150 off "open box" computers every now and then... I scored a great gateway that sold for $579 for $250 out the door. I will PM you when it happens again if you want.

Re: Somewhereinusa
I finished up the hitch today. I'll either have to move "stuff" or move the bus to try out hitching up the towd.
This is the bracing I put inside the bumper. Final version changed a little. I had to cut notches in the brace to clear air conditioning pulleys.
It still gave a little, so I tied it into the lower engine mount. It doesn't give at all now.
Here is view of everything installed.
Putting the pin in is a little tricky, but can be done from above or below. Not with the engine running though.
I couldn't get any usable pictures that showed the inside when mounted.

Re: Somewhereinusa
That has to be stronger than bolting that to a cheap flimsy pickup step bumper...and hell they have been towing for years

Re: Somewhereinusa
I've been pondering on how to actually plumb in the in floor heat. I had everything, just wanted to make sure I had thought of all the possibilities. The bedroom is in, filled, bled, and test fire done. No leaks and it got hot in there. "Course it's almost 80 here, but it did get hotter. Here's the plumbing. The aluminum plates did heat up quite a bit. The cleats are just to hold things down a bit until I lay the floor. I still have to cut and lay the insulation on the left. One of the things that was holding things up was, I needed some way to make the curves without kinking. None of the commercial things were quite what I needed, or were way too expensive. These wooden ones work quite well.
Since I'm not at all sure all of this will actually work, I also put in a hot water heater with a fan. Even if the floor don't heat the room, it will be warm and I can run around in my bare feet.
Here's a picture of the heater assy.

Re: Somewhereinusa
Your doing it just like it needs to be done. In floor heating takes time to heat it's surroundings before you will feel the heat evenly. The more thermal mass, the longer it takes. The heat plates are quite responsive compared to lines in a cement slab. Also keep your loops to 200 feet or less with 1/2 pex. Otherwise the internal friction (head) will be to great to get proper flow.
The radiator is a good Ida for quickly heating the air. That's the beauty of hot water heating.

Great work. I will let you work out all the kinks and then copy what you do in my bus. I plan to use both radiant floor and hot water forced air too.

Re: Somewhereinusa
I just got back from my weekend in Wisconsin. The heat works great. I have only actually finished the bedroom and the thermostat isn't installed yet. It's all manual, I woke up in the middle of the night and had to turn it off for a while. I do really, really, really like warm floors. But, Molly doesn't, I think that's the first time she has not slept in my bedroom. I guess I'll have to figure out some kind of bed for the dogs where they aren't on the floor. The front is using, right now, just the original heater the floor heat isn't in yet. It got a little chilly while driving. I think that when I get it all finished that problem will be solved. Nothing that a blanket over my legs didn't solve. Boiler worked flawlessly. Fuel mileage is really bad, but I also don't have to buy propane. One thing that almost caused a problem. I forgot that the front heater fans are still powered from the start batteries. When I started it Monday morning, it only turned over once, slow. Since I have the engine cooling system plumbed in with a heat exchanger the engine was toasty warm. I don't think it turned a whole revolution before it was running. I lost my headlights going through Chicago and have developed a power steering leak, all minor details.
