May I suggest an angle grinder directed against the rivet head. Then, hammer and chisel.

I'm such a simple guy. That's all I know.

Regarding the gauge cluster. The entire cluster almost always goes bad on those Internationals. Do all the other gauges work ok? You might just have a couple isolated problems. (Alternator, bad temp sensor etc..)

Just the temp gauge.
We've managed to get her scrubbed, leaks plugged, de-rusted, primed, and everything required off minus the flashing lights. Wisconsin is a bit strick on those dang lights. Figure work on them today and set her up to paint tomorrow, granting the weather continues to hold. Then just have to wait for the state patrol to get here to approve her as a RV or truck (haven't decided yet). Last time I called about the topic they said it could be a week before they showed up :? Figure that will give me time to get more inside demo done :)
Once we get her lincesed (looking for 20th or so) I'll get started on the tires, that darn battery prob and the temp guage.

Have to say OMG my body hurts lol

10 weeks to go

It's hard to tell what surface those are attached to. Is there a nut backing up those bolts, or are they lag bolts? If it's on a horizontal surface, I'd use penetrating fluid and an impact wrench or a breaker bar with an extension bar. You could just use an angle grinder of course, but I suspect you would have to cut each bolt twice: once to get the head off and remove the plate underneath, and then again to eliminate the protruding shaft of the bolt.

Work progressed on Fran today-- lots of seam filling, holes plugged, rust removed and taping up precious parts of her body in prep to give her a foundation layer ....

Caught her with her makeup half done!

So is that just the rustoleum you can buy at home depot and then you are spraying it with a general air sprayer? I'm a ways off from painting but am trying to plan ahead :)

That's the pro rusteolum (custom color mix) with an almost 2to1 mineral spirits mix and painted on with a high density foam roller. Not as smooth as I'd like but if it works like my test panels then it will come out super smooth after 2 and 3 coats.

Slow day today thanks to the freezing winds. Haven't had much luck getting the lift out so offered it up for free if someone can remove it without damaging the bus. Local shops wanted to charge $80plus an hour to remove. bah. Have people lined up that want it, so hopefully it will be gone this weekend and we can get on with prepping her for state patrol inspection this week.

Did find the downside to painting with rollers is getting into nooks, which a fine painters brush helps but a spray can is way better. Still have yet to remove the last of the school bus lettering on front and back, thanks to cold weather. Gotta get it done this weekend.

This sits near the floor by my brake. What is this?

It is most likely the valve to allow coolant to run to the rear heater.

That is a shutoff valve for the coolant that goes to the heaters. Close it down, and no coolant goes to the rear heater for sure, and maybe not the heater that sits under the electrical panel either. You will have to peek in there to see for sure.

Thanks! :)

Got seats and lift removed today, thanks to a couple great guys that came by with a torch. Flooring is rubber over metal, will grab some pics as we get ripping and cleaning things up.

Working inside, we took out most seats, leaving a few for the trip to the hardware store once we get plates. Have to work around those wheelchair clips as we can't figure how to get them up. Did get up the flooring, no plywood, just metal. Found we've some clean up work to do and a few spots to cut out and replace. Cleaner than I was expecting though. Hope to have plates come Monday then will pick up the insulation and flooring/wall materials.

Second coat of paint and a lot of detailing and trip left to do BUT... it decided to SNOW today so have to wait until the weekend to finish off the painting job.

That circled pic there... what is that thing? Seems to be connected to the front left heater (driver). Is it safe to pull that off? It only runs a few feet then ends into something more solid with no vents. I don't want to remove the heating system but that part is in my way.

Nine weeks to go
