    The edge section of the door is solid overall, drill a hole to fit a dead bolt was my thought. To add some more thickness I will cut out a few pieces of 1/4th inch steel to lap over the entire area and increase the strength. The door edge should be able to take a bolt catch built and welded on to the rib nearest the former hinge.
