1989 Thomas 56 Passenger Bus

Hello I just gothome with bus last nite 12 midnite. My bus is a Thomas 1989 56 passenger bus from North Carolina.
It has a Chevy Diesel 8.2 with auto transmission it made the 400 mile trip in about 9.5 hours not counting stops. (up the mountain down the mountain) . It came from a N.C. school system. HELP-Some of my questions are do they have a governor on them I never could get above 55-60 except down hill. Speed would drop to 45 up hill. Where can i find books or manuals on the bus and engine so I can maintenance it.
