Everyone has different wants & needs. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla. Having owned a couple of black tank rigs, I am going the composting route this time. And that decision was only made after talking to a few folks who have lived with them for a while. Everyone I spoke with said they would never go back to the tank and hose routine again. But...to each his own.

Agreed. SWMBO and I, based on what I've read on here, decided to not go black water tank but composting.

Another happy composter here. No black water. By myself, I can go about 4-5 weeks between empties, especially if I can do most of my poopin at work

How about mounting a large funnel into a pipe leading into the grey water tank with a ball valve below the funnel? If you want to get fancy, get a funnel made of stainless or copper.

Dont piss in your greywater tank, that's not what they're for.

Thanks. The idea of using a ball valve never occurred to me - that would be simpler than what I was thinking. I was actually considering integrating a waterless urinal cartridge into it - or else attempt to build my own, because the look sort of ... simple-ish.

But I generally like to overcomplicate things.

Ya...pee turns "gray water"..."black".

At least as far as dumping goes. There are a lot of builds that combine gray & black in a single tank, but...you definitely have to treat it all as black if you do.

If you don't have a black tank, what would you propose? A direct line overboard?

A 2 gallon jug that your piss goes into. When its time to empty, dump it down a toilet. That's how the Nature's Head toilet works.
Im just saying that if you put human waste in a tank, that makes it a black tank.
I wouldn't just run a line overboard unless you want to smell your piss all the time when you're outside. The pee is the smelliest part of what comes out of our bodies in the long run.

Maybe it's just me, and I certainly don't mean to judge anyone, but what the heck is the big deal about sitting down to pee? Good grief, leave the macho attitude behind and save yourself some money.

I pee standing up into my Nature's Head all the time. I have good aim and I clean up after myself incase I don't. I dont like sitting but I don't think I have a macho attitude about it

I can totally appreciate the fact that you can aim and so can I. But in the middle of the night I don't feel like turning a light on and don't want to go all over the floor or especially on the seat to make my wife angry. My point being, if I can sit at night then why not during the day as well, and not let it become an issue if if costs more in the design phase because someone feels they are to much of a man to sit. After all, you sit to poop so what is the big deal about sitting down?

I'm not macho, I'm fat and lazy, and therefore it's simple physics: if I sit down, I will eventually have to stand up again...

That said, I hadn't read/heard about anyone stand-n-peeing into a Nature's Head, so thanks for sharing because now I know it's doable. I also have good aim and/or already piss my wife off regularly anyways, so it sounds like I'll be fine without a urinal.

as men, we are constantly fighting the loss of our manliness, losing testosterone, bone density, muscles, size/girth, so I for one will retain my ability to piss standing, as this may be my last domain of manhood - marking my territory

On the same topic, isn't it about time that someone comes up with a seat that resets itself automatically to a 45º angle? That way, no one could complain whether the seat is up or down.
