Bus engine parts

Where is a good place to get specific engine parts for your bus? For example I am looking for a new cap for my reservoir tank and have not had any luck.

But there are other parts I would also like to get, but not sure if there is a good reliable source I should tap into for getting them. Any suggestions?

Look for heavy duty truck parts stores. Fleetpride is a big one that comes to mind. Napa also has a decent supply network. Otherwise you could probably get away with using an expanding rubber plug:

If you can figure out exactly what you have under the hood you can get engine specific parts all over. Getting the model # off the engine would be the first step.

be careful if thats a pressurized reservoire like a lot of the International DT engines are.. the cap needs to be a specific pressure..

also if it was a vented cap then a plug like that will impede the ability of that reservoire to release and retrieve coolant from expansion..

truckpro is another place to try as is Rush truck centers.. Rush is in masny cities the ionternational dealer.. that cap may be specific to the Truck as opposed to specific to the engine...

ive bought parts for mine from schoolbus pasrts company and also from finditparts.com

Oh yes, of course! I was thinking small vehicle coolant reservoirs with the cap on the rad. :S I'm glad you caught that. My bus (being an International) has a pressure cap on the reservoir. I'm not sure what the Cummins 5.9 set up typically has going on.. Either way the bung idea is a bad one since you want some way for air to enter and exit. Dumb caps still need a pin hole.

Hey, I'm sure you've already found something by now but my husband and I found this website and they have a whole lot of parts!

I hope it helps!
