Re: How to adjust a buses govenor

On the 3208 it'll be labeled as, "high idle", as listed in the pic I included. Just 2 bolts(7/16" head) holds it on, then there's a screw & jamb nut under it. Loosen the screw (back it out, CCW)to raise rpm. Tighten up the jamb nut, and put the cover back on. Just keep it under 3200 & you'll be fine. Fuel economy drops drastically though. What does it tach at 60mph?

Re: How to adjust a buses govenor

Thanks for the picture, hopefully I can find it and play with it. I don't remember what it was taching at, and won't be on the hiway anytime soon. But this is a project I wanted to work on so that the next time out I will be able to run at least the speed limit (65mph)...

Fuel Economy? You can get fuel economy with a bus?
Hard to imagine, huh? Never the less, I gained an additional 1+ mpg just by properly inflating my tires! Just a 1 mpg increase means an additional 60 miles out of my 60 gal. fuel tank, and every little bit helps. . .

Re: How to adjust a buses govenor

Not sure if this will help, but I took my bus to an International Dealer/Shop and they hooked up a computer to it. He said he could program the top speed up to 100mph, but the transmission, rear axle and top RPM's would ultimately limit the top speed. In a few seconds, my bus not tops out at a respectable 67mph from 57mph. And they didn't charge me! I have a 1997 International Bluebird... This has been the easiest fix so far!
