Re: Increasing Horsepower
i've seen DT466 engines coupled to the AT545..........
I had a 72 passenger bus with the 6.6 liter..........wow was it gutless! Climbed an 8% grade at a solid 21 mph....that was a lot of fun.
Great bus though, it had nearly 300K miles on it when i sold it a couple years back. for all i know she'ss still running today.
I just spent 20 minutes searching for the topic on how to turn up your injector pump......and i'm the one who wrote the silly thing. The photos are from a DT360, but it has the same pump as the brazilian ford. Although the ford pump is on the opposite side of the engine...and it's probably grey instead of blue.
I agree that you should have a temp guage for the trans and a pyro guage for the exhaust. You would benefit tremendously from increased fuel deliver rate (more hp) and from turning up the govenor (higher rpm). Don't have a tach? All the buses i've seen have been set from the factory hundreds if not 1K rpm slower than they are rated for.
just for reference if my memory serves me right i had about 5.56:1 rear gears with allison at545 and was turning about 2300 rpm @ 55mph. tires are 10r22.5
