We're temporary Montanans - work Glacier Park in the summer, then back south for the winter. That's how we deal with the cold! Plus our bus is really only set up for Montana summers and Texas winters!

Hey, now! We'll be full-timers soon enough. Just got to find the right winter job in MT that will continue to allow us to work at Glacier in the summers - that is the challenge...
On the rare night where it does get pretty cold, we use a combination of electric space heaters and a Portable Mr. Buddy. keeps us nice n' toasty!

I've survived two Montana winters in Brunhilde. The first was the roughest; about 50 lbs of blankets with a Mr. Buddy heater that barely made a dent in the cold. That's with 1" of rigid foam insulation on 95% of the windows and walls. The second winter was much easier. I got a federbett and a Wave 8 heater.

An oil-filled heater got me some serious 2d Degree burns, resulting in a 5 week hospital stay.
You ought to try the federbett. A few minute under one of those and you're toasty warm. Of course, a willing companion would make it that much more cozy.

I have a two part plan for dealing with really cold weather.
Plan A.: Go South
Plan B.: Zero degree goose down sleeping bag + small heaters (propane for boondocking...electric when plugged in).
For extreme cold, you can get sleeping bags rated to -40 degrees that will keep you toasty but they cost around a grand. Zero degree rated can be had for $2-300 bucks. And bags are easy to roll up and stash away.

Plan A - NO WAY!
Plan B = I'm already doing that.
Plan C = I'm adding another Federbett.
Plan D = Find some willing female bed mate.

lolol -5
that's shorts weather during a Montana winter.
one time the temps were in the -20s for a week or more, the walls on my house were frozen like the inside of an undefrosted freezer.

even though i'm south of Montana now, i like my heat the same way. i heat my home with a pellet stove. its 90ish in the room with the stove and colder the further you are away from the stove.
old habits die hard.... my furnace only kicks on when i'm gone keeping the house above 50.

Was going to suggest burning the seats and floor boards you have left. And plan d is problematic as she steals the covers and drinks all my whiskey.
