old tire conversion chart

Anyone know of a handy obsolete bias tire to modern radial size chart?

I swear I saw one somewhere once, and as luck would have it I didn't have my tire size on hand. Now that I have it, I can't find the chart.
Maybe I dreamed I saw it. I dunno.

Anyway, my '59 Chevy Viking/ Ward has 8.00X22.5 tires on Budd rims. The original tires were 7.00X22.5. My concern is that I won't be able to find a narrow enough tire to fit my original 5" wide rims.

Also, has anyone here had any luck with obtaining surplus bus tires from local school districts. Some local bus drivers have told me that they are required by law to replace tires sooner than an individual might.
Unfortunately I lost my job recently so I can't just go down to the local tire shop and drop a few grand on 7 new tires.
Thanks in advance
-kevin

FYI: My bus had 8.25x20 bias tires on budd wheels when I got it and I put on 10R22.5 on new 6.75x22.5 wheels.

bus barn?

Thanks for the response.

I noticed you mentioned getting tires at your' local bus barn.

How did you approach them?

I'm thinking about hitting up one myself, as they have stacks of them laying around, but weren't they concerned about the liability, or were they just glad to have somebody take them?

I'm thinking a 10R22.5 will work, but I was just wondering what the closest modern equivalent is.

The bus barn was similar to yours where they had a pile of them stacked up behind their shop. It was pretty gross looking through them to find good matching pairs because they were holding foul water in them that would splash out while you moved them.

A friend of mine had contacted them about me getting tires from them as they knew the owners so I didn't really deal with them.

I think they have to pay to get rid of the tires and didn't care about me taking some. I just backed up with my truck, selected the ones I wanted to take and took them to get mounted.
