Removing all those school bus decals.

Here is the solution, right here. I've seen people using heat guns, scrapers, elbow grease, etc, etc. Not the way. This here is an exponentially easier way to get the stickers off your bus than any other method, and it won't dork up your paint.

https://www.amazon.com/AES-Industrie.../dp/B00488DDB8

SO...you chuck this in a drill, rough up the outside edge surface on a brick, and start peeling off decals. I found an easy way was to start at the top edge of the decal and move the wheel downward, with the wheel turning so as to lift the decal off the surface (against the direction of travel), and continue downward removing a vertical stripe of decal all the way down. Then start again at the top. Keep the speed down, excess speed heats up the rubber and wears out the wheel. Wipe away the residue (eraser shavins) with a dry cloth, then check to see if you need to hit a few spots again.

IF you have a sticker with a hard outer skin, like some of the reflective tapes, a heat gun and scraper will remove the skin, then the wheel will take the adhesive.

agreed on the eraser method.
I also used a Makita multi tool with scraper blade after letting soak in WD-40. works very well if you already own the tool.

Good call

I've tried most other methods I've found on the forum with minimal success. I'm ordering one of these tonight. Thanks for the great idea.

I used this and had mine off in minutes.

I'm repainting the whole bus anyhow.

Will that rubber wheel also work on the big 'SCHOOL BUS' decal on the top, or am I better off just painting over that one? It's not cracked or anything, and looks to be rather smooth....

As a level 1 burglar, Bilbo got a pony when he accompanied the level 60 dwarves on the Smaug the Dragon raid. Those powerlevelers probably invited him solely so he could trigger fellowship attacks for them.

Additionally they'll power wash off if you do that. The adhesive will come off with an adhesive remover from any auto store.

I know a home-style pressure washer wont take them off... I tried an electric one like i use for cleaning the house deck and siding.. it didnt hardly touch the decals... it did a nice job of showiung me any window leaks on the bus and cleaning it up though...

Even a really radical power washer won't take em off. I tried.

Mine took the decals off, leaving the sticky residue which I then removed with a razor. I even got off all the reflective tape. It took a few hours. I suggest using a flat razor to get them off if you're worried about the other options. Pick up some adhesive remover from your local auto parts store for the gunk underneath and use the razor to get it clean. It's the easiest way without stripping down to the metal.

Everything on my bus seems to be really BAKED-on. The lettering etc seemed eternally bonded to the metal fully. Just like the tar/asphalt crap under the roof that I finally finished dealing with this summer.
