Slicing and Dicing your skoolie

Does anyone have any experience removing a section from a 71 passenger bus???

I have a 71 passenger skoolie for sale....Darn, I did it again. Sorry honey.....

I'm also thinking, if no one buys it, of removing a 105" section in the middle.

There's too much room in it right now for just one person to go sailing & camping in. I want more of a "Man Cave".

I'd like to sell it and eventually get something smaller if possible, OR because of all the work already done too it,
MAKE it smaller to suit my needs.

I really would like the challenge of doing this, but like any surgery, is serious business.

This 105" reduction from the middle would reduce the wheelbase to 200" and effectively make it into a shorty.
I wonder what the turning radius would be at 200" ???

I think I have it figured out but its always wise to check with those that have,
"been there -done that and have the T-shirt to prove it".

I dont want to hear from any "talkers" or "BS artists", only do-ers.
Once the cuts have been made, there's no going back.

Thanx in advance for any help rendered.

espiritusengineering@yahoo.com for any direct / serious replies.

cheers, fishphart (olde phart trucker).

Re: Slicing and Dicing your skoolie

You can remove a section or even add more if you have an additional bus. Some 40' transets without a frame have even been shortened here. and coach busses are frequently lenghtened to 45', and that involves removing a whole lot of stuff, since its lengthening the engine compartment. Since school busses have truck frames, its no different than the usual shortining cept you have to also remove the body section, and build yourself a driveshaft if you cant find the right length one, do fuel and brake lines, etc
