Water heater install

So I'm getting ready to install my water heater and have not really found anything on how to do? Any pointers will be great.

Put the sink and shower back-to-back and install the demand-type heater under the sink.

ok it a basic 6 gallon RV water heater I was looking for advice on how to hook up the lines not where to install. I read somewhere that the hot water line needs a backflow on it? And does the waterpump push the water out of the tank?

yes the pump pushes water from the storage tank thru the hot water heater.the pump has the backflow valve or check valve to keep the pressure at a set point and to keep the pump from cycling on and off. you also need a female hose fitting hooked up between the pump and everything else to hook up to city water, it needs a backflow valve on it also. water heater should be as close to point of use as possible.

The water pump sucks water from the tank and pressurizes the bus plumbing lines running to faucets, etc. Run a line from the bottom port in the tank to the inlet side of the pump. Usually there is a strainer on the inlet side. The pump monitors pressure on the output side and will come on automatically when pressure drops when a faucet is opened.

I used PEX to plumb in my Atwood 6 gal. water heater.

Think about how you will drain your water system when installing the water lines so they can be fully drained for winter storage. Many use compressed air to blow the lines dry but I don't have a compressor so I ran my lines so that they naturally drain back into the holding tank and water heater. Then I use a shop vac to suck the water heater dry.

You can get electrically heated potable water tank blankets and hoses through any RV store.
