Wheel well replacement?

Has anyone removed the standard wheel well and made new ones? One of mine has a patch of rust right down to where it meets the floor and it seems the wells are much bigger than they need to be. I'm thinking of boxing it instead of rounded (or main is boxed and just put a piece of metal rounded under the box.

My bus has ~5.5" travel from axle to frame bumper, anyone know how much it will actually see day-to-day? Seems like the wells are much taller than they need to be at around 10" from top of tire to bottom of wheel well (straight vertical distance). If I box it and make it a bit shorter it could help with floorplan/layout ideas.

I did this. Cut out the bad metal. Ospho, primer paint on floor. Undercoating spray on bottom of new metal. Polyurethane sealant where it meets the floor. Went under and sprayed the screws with undercarriage spray.Click image for larger version

You can do as Ningakitty did, and at the same time cut the well down to a level that still allows enough travel. Tango cut 2 of his down, but not sure if he posted pictures of that work.

I just "notched" one of mine to help fit the potty.
