Hey Tango, That bus is only about 90 miles from me--it'll make a good project for someone.

I got the wipers in and operating today after many adjustments like angle to match the windshield and changing out the wiper tensioning springs. I can't resist including a few pics of the wipers doing their thing. Jack

Hi Tango and All, By the time i realized that I did not have a pic of the drive mechanism I had removed the entire wiper mechanism and started to clean up the parts--I'm sure I'll find a chance to snap a shot to share when I reassemble things.

One of the things that keeps this kind of project interesting is that you can't always be sure of what you will work on next. I had planned to continue work on the wipers but when my upholstry guy and buddy called and said my tent material was in and that he had a free day to play with the pop top I instantly changed plans and we spent the day working on the pop up. Fernando and I have been friends for many years and I know that the first words I will hear him speak when I try to describe one of my hare brained ideas is "That won't work". Of course he then procedes to make it work in spite of himself. I always try (or so he would say) to make a change order half way through the job and it really gets his goat. I guess I just like to hear him say "that won't work True to form I've decided that the tent wall needs to have a couple of zippered windows with screens--they need to have round corners to look right and Fernando, true to form, said "that won't work" so I am very encouraged

We test fit the material sticking it up with duct tape and ran the top up and down a few times to see how things looked. Fernando assures me that the wrinkles will disapear once I get the material correctly installed. Also, there will be a flap added front and rear to direct rain water away from the opening and down the slope of the bus like the one

Awesome! Windows/screens will be nice to vent heat if you can make it work, although I suppose you could just install a roof vent.

Hey Tango and All, I'll spend today making adjustments to the garage door, putting in a couple of parking blocks and practicing going in and out of the garage. I shouldn't have to move the bus for a while after that as there is much I can do with it in its present position. The next challenge will be backing in so I can work on the other side (slide out). Hey Jack --- musta' been thoroughly nerve wracking moving the rig in under that door. I know if I'd done as much work on that pop-up as you have, I would'a been sweating bullets just waiting to hear something go "crunch"!

You can breathe now, but remember that when the tires warm up, they may grow a sixteenth of an inch. And from the pix...it looks like that's about all you had to spare pardner!

Thanks tango--way to go---I think I feel a relapse, I need that 1/16" Oh No, here goes the diarrhea again!!!----only kidding . I actually have 1/4" at the tightest point and I've measured the distance from a known point on the bus to the ground on both sides and written the value in paint on the body so I won't have to try to remember. The bus doesn't sit exactly even with the ground even though the frame is square as can be so the values differ from side to side. I doubt that my bus body was jig built way back when so it is no suprise that the body is less than square. I ended up chopping off four offending 1/4"X 20 bolts on the garage door and that did the trick. I drove the bus in and out several times to check repeatability and the pop up is still undamaged.

As I expected, I was so excited about getting my toy (bus) in my own play pen (garage) that I couldn't sleep. I'm bushed so will soon head for the sack. Jack

Tango, that is just too cool . It sure puts my little pop top to shame! I'll stand in the shower (aka think tank) tonight until all 50 gals of hot water is gone trying to dream up a way to use that idea! I dare you to do the same! Ha!
