Re: 1979 Chevrolet Bus

Looks like rust and rot already, but I think this is due mostly to not having weather stripping along the top of the rear door.

My guess on the generator is a BFA 4.0 Surely some of the numbers are still on the tag. Look closer, they arent easy to see no matter condition.

I looked at the tag and it says AC VOLTS 120/240, also says KW 6.5. This is an Onan Generator. Im thinking this is a medium size unit???? It wont turn over, so Im thinking maybe needs rebuilt?? Maybe cheaper to just get another one. Not real sure about this.

Re: 1979 Chevrolet Bus

If that is an 1800 rpm model you would be hard pressed to replace it for less than your rebuild would be and it wouldnt be as reliable. Just my two cents!

Kenny76 are you saying that I can rebuild the generator I have for less money than buying a new one, and be better off?? It is an 1800 RPM. I know nothing about electricity, Im wondering if this generator is a small, medium, or large power supply? Like can I power multiple appliances, and lights all at the same time in a RV setting?

6.5 KW is about 55 amps. You can run all apliances and have some left over for someone else. This is more than the outlets at most campgrounds. They are 30 - 50 amps.

That seat foam makes a good bunk mattress or couch.
