1979 Chevrolet Bus

Whew I finally made it on here. It has been a difficult task trying to find an e-mail that would work to get in here. Anyway its a done deal and here I am. I purchased a 1979 Chevrolet 60 passenger bus with a Superior Body. I am starting to take the seats out now. So far so good with that. I am looking forward to the conversion. I have been reading other posts on here, and I have learned that a persons imagination is the only limit on what one can do to a bus. The sky is the limit. I hope to have fun with this project, and look forward to all the help (questions and answers) from experienced people on the forum.

You are so right that there is no limit to what you can do with an old bus. Welcome to this forum and skoolie madness. Pictures, pictures, pictures!

I am wanting to show lots of pics of my bus, but I have no idea how to post pics at all. I don't know where to start, or what to do about posting pics. I have pics on my smart phone, but now how to get them on here? Any help is appreciated.

Re: 1979 Chevrolet Bus

easy to do with a bit of know-how......
hit post reply..... now you'll see along the top of the text box a bunch of stuff starting with B i u quote code list list=[*] img okay now stop right there...img is the one you want.... hit that button and you will see it adds some [] with img and /img in them....
You want to go to your photobucket account and grab the address for the image you want to post..... now paste that long string of crap into img]HERE[/img.... hit preview button at bottom and you should see your pic in the box above your editor box.... hit submit and you are done!!

Re: 1979 Chevrolet Bus

Thanks for the info, but Im not very smart about pasting stuff. Maybe someday. Its probably very easy to do this, but I am completely ignorant to computer stuff. There are like maybe 4 links in my photo bucket, and I have no idea.

Re: 1979 Chevrolet Bus

The time has come to start thinking about the new subfloor. Im pondering ideas of how this should be done. I have seen lots of good ideas on other posts, but I don't think I have seen anyone talk about how to fasten the subfloor to the floor. Is it just layed in and then built upon, or is the insulation and plywood glued down or maybe screwed down to the metal floor skin? I haven't even got all the seats out yet, but Im wanting to come up with some ideas to think about, so I will be ready when the time comes.

Re: 1979 Chevrolet Bus

Im trying to find out some info about this Onan Generator. The metal tag is just about worn off and cant read the numbers very well to tell what wattage it puts out. It does not run right now either. So Im not sure about its overall shape. This generator is hooked up to power the 2 rooftop A/C units. There is a breaker box inside the bus with 2 30 amp breakers, and 2 110 plug ins all inside the bus. Im wondering if this is an aftermarket setup or a factory thing. I was told by the last owner that this bus was once an activity bus, but I kinda have doubts about that.

Re: 1979 Chevrolet Bus

Also wondering about replacing the old oil bath air cleaner. I really don't know much about an oil bath, but Im guessing it slows down air flow compared to a paper filter element.
