Re: 1983 GMC Ward 66 passenger (Bigasspimp Mobile)

Ive also heard of people using a soray texture gun to do the same thing. Im going to look at harbor frieght to see what they have since it will more or less be a one time use for the equipment.

Heres a texture sprayer http://www.harborfreight.com/texture...gun-66103.html

Heres a bedliner/undercoating gun off ebay. I didnt think it would be too bad. It could be used for other things on the bus like ... well undercoating it also?

Re: 1983 GMC Ward 66 passenger (Bigasspimp Mobile)

Progress update.

Got a few pieces of strap steel welded in. Went pretty quick all things considered. I ran in to an issue with a drill bit. I bought a $18 dewalt cobalt 1/2 drill bit. I got 5 holes out of it and it was about as dull and the Obama gun control plan. Needless to say I returned it. I dont mind spending money on things but I expect them to perform better than that.

I removed the (very crappy) foam insulation from channel so I could have better access to welding up the plug holes and the edges let alone not wanting it to catch fire.

Here is a pic of the strap steel drilled out (every 8 inches) so I can weld in the holes against the metal of the bus

Here is the first window I welded up. Im not the best welder on the planet. Yes I would think if I wire brushed off the rust would help some but .... eh... weld it up.

Here is a closer look at the plug welds. Nothing special but so far it looks like they will work out well.

Things are moving along. I am hoping to finish up the passenger side and half of the drivers side if I am lucky. Good times!

Re: 1983 GMC Ward 66 passenger (Bigasspimp Mobile)

I would have rather done it from the outside if given a choice but the skin was already on when I got the bus. The previous owners didn't secure this down super well so I'm.fighting this as best I can. Its been interesting so far but that's the part I like the most is figuring out the...how the hell am I going to do this part?

My bus doesn't have near as many rivets inside the roof and top of the walls. Interesting.

There are a lot of rivets inside the bus. This is one of the issues I struggle with about removing the inner roof panels to replace it with better inuslation.

Shadoll do you have pics of your interior of your bus?

I'm not very far on mine.. it's bare tin can now with taped and caulk for painting done. My stream is Transmogrophie and Me viewtopic.php?f=9&t=17117. Laughing because Diesal Dan is saying how many pages he has. Shoot, I have 16 pages and haven't got much done at all. But lots of questions answered.
