So here are some realities. Shifting the brownie takes skill! I am practicing and really getting to know her. I really want to turbo or super charge her. Wow does elevation and air temperature effect the performance of this beast. I have not been using under drive so far as I can pull most hills in third over or direct. I have a feeling that I will see the true value and potential of what I've done if I turbo or super... B.O.A. (2.5).T

Yeah a turbo really helps at altitude and pulling in the hills.

Better look at head studs too if you throw a turbo on there. Compression ratio is 21.5 to 1.

Yeah. There is a guys named Jason Anderson with a performance parts company solely focused on the 6.9. I figure if I go that route I'll get a comprehensive kit from him. Although for the price I could probably buy an old dodge pickup with a running 6bt already turboed and swap the whole thing in lol.

I drive a 2000 Ferd Excursion with a Power Stroke. As I write this today, I have 5 other Ford diesels. If I could chose one engine, it would be the 5.9 Cummins that I had in my 2005 Dodge. That was an awesome engine. All the power I needed when I needed it and great fuel economy. I got a solid 22-23 mpg on the freeway with a 1 ton crew cab SRW 4wd that weighed 8K with the junk in the bed. I think that's pretty darn good.


P.S. That was doing 70 mph. If I drove 55, I think I got over 25mpg.

I drove a Rabbit pickup diesel back when, 52 mpg....so there! I think it would do 55 mph.

I could stack three of your Caddys in my bed and still break 20 mpg. You could put 3 lunch pails in the bed of your truck and break 50 mpg. I have a 1982 Rabbit 2 door with a 1.6 and a 1992 Jetta with a 1.6. I know what they are capable of.

I had a 79 diesel Rabbit!
Got it for $900, it definitely got 50++ mpg. topped out around 55-60. I took it from FL to NC, over to TN, then back to FL on "vacation" once. Was a long trip at 55 mph.

My current daily driver is a 91 Jetta 1.6.Got ot by accident for $250. I rebuilt the motor + installed a turbo at about 280k miles. . 9 years later its now has apx 420k on it. 200k of that is on veg-so only about 40mpg.

My friend in Maine sold one of his for $7500 but he put a 1.9 turbo engine in it.

Yes!! My brother has a first gen cummins 12valve with the NV4500 behind it. Your right on there, in a perfect world, that's what my bus would have come with...;). Depending on how I end up feeling I think will decide for me. Honestly I've been really impressed so far. Cruising at 65-70 across the Wyoming flats and Nebraska I was getting 9-11 mpg averaging 9.8. Shifting up into over drive i pretty much have down, I'm back to putting the auto in neutral to rev match and shift. I'm interested Iowa now. About to sleep, been driving since five or six last night it's 230pm now I was gonna go for a 24 💪 But once I stopped it was too tempting to lie down haha. @opus I tracked down the crappy connection going to my head light, replaced bothe of them with new brighter lamps, and put fresh bulbs in all my markers, all seems to be well now. Y'all should have seen the storm infront though, couldn't see thirty feet ahead, followed the road by the market poles on the sides!! As the snow settles..today I've driven past like ten upside down big rigs and several car wrecks that looked like they must have been fatal, this first storm of the year hit hard! I've been learning from the driving habits of he big rigs and I'm pretty sure it's paying off, ohewwy though fuel is expensive

Haven't been on my email for a minute Been hauling a$$. using all gears now, my linkage was funky but now that I actually took the time to fix it... I'm bangin gears boys !!!dropping into fourth under while under load on a hill!!!im so happy also I guess my entire fuel system must have been dirty and cleaned itself, because the engine runs better than ever with more power too!! No chains 😧😱 I'm supposed to hit more big weather in Ohio fingers crossed to quote Dustin Hoffman, "I'm a very good driver"

Issues and in am fairly good at shifting the brownie and more importantly knowing when! (So Natster, remeber my friendly proposition? Well...I drove way more than 500 miles, and I didn't burn up my Allison, in fact I was quite impressed with it)

I would advise you in a friendly way to let your personal problems go as per the forum rules of conduct.

You have proved nothing. There is a severe lack of video and pictures of your entire build on this site.

No matter how much you try now, you still can't prove anything. We have no way of knowing how many miles you have driven that set up. Your word has no value to me.

I still don't know for sure if you even have the box installed in the bus.

Did you install it, or pay someone to do the work for you?

So, how about some pics and video?

As we always say on this forum, pics or it didn't happen.

Even if you did get it to work, anyone with common sense would not go that route. Way more parts under there than necessary. More parts = more stuff to break.

How about some pics of the chipped gears inside gears inside that browny box from all the improper shifts.

Edit In Alberta, you would get a distracted driving ticket for operating that mess on a public roadway.

I can tell you that's not true. That is like saying that every one who drives stick should get a ticket.

Canada is NO better that American when it comes to road safety. I would go as far as to sat you guys are safer.
I can still throw farm plates on a 3 axle truck with air breaks, not have to pass a safety inspection, be exempt form spot inspections, not have a cdl (called a class 3 here in Manitoba) and be completely legal.

Good job famous for getting it done with limited resources! I wish I had a brownie box.
