Well after about 12 man hours I have all of the interior skin and isulation out including the ceiling. I counted about 1000 rivets but its done. I sure hope its worth it. Next I will take up the floor and see what kind of cancer is underneath.

I know I know Pics.

On a side not ordering some dual pane Rv windows today for 60$ each..... So thats awsome.

I saw some of those rv windows online (used). Dual pane seemed to be the same or similar to single pane... Shipping is half
Sounds like you found a good deal!

Re: 1991 Int Blue bird long snout

Finally getting somwhere. I have the entire interior stripped and the floor almost done. I wire brushed the floor followed by a full POR15 treatment (degreaser, rust converter/etcher, and two coats of POR15). I am suprised how much work I have into just the floor but I guess you need a good foundation. After Paint I sealed all holes and put down 3/4 insulation followed by 3/4 plywood.

Next its out with the windows and in with the skin.

Looks great! I'll bet you're feeling good right about now. I know I was at that point in my project.

When I did my floor, though, I wasn't aware of the POR15 with black color. I like that better than the regular stuff I used. Next time...

Looks good,

I get my bus tomorrow and can't wait to get to where you are. I will take out all the interior sheet metal as well.

Every one here says to use a air chisel, I have to go and pick one up

I had great luck drilling out every rivet with a 3/16'' bit then a cold chisel and hammer. A few wacks and the head would pop. I have an air chisel maybe I should have gotton it out....... The key with the drill was not to push too hard and spin the rivet.

I got out all the rivets in about 14 hours....

Re: 1991 Int Blue bird long snout

A little over half the window skins done this weekend. I was able to re-use the skin from the interior. I am using Huck Magna Lock rivets up the roof supports and 10-24 carriage bolts everywhere else. So far they look great. Well see after a few hot days what they look like. The gold paint is just to protect the heads from rust until I get the bus painted.

Re: 1991 Int Blue bird long snout

I was able to get about 3/4th's of the window skining done with the interior steel. I will need to order a sheet or two to finish but that saved me alot of money. The factory interior skin from the roof is 20 Gauge. Seems sufficiant so far and its already painted so it will resist corrosion until its all re-painted. I also ordered Bus Kote and primer....

Now what to use for paint? I dont need a show quality finish I just want it to last. Im thinking maybe a wagner to spray it...
