What did you make the guides out of? Looks like chain link fence post.

wood floors are only required in certain states.. im not sure what the advantage or disadvantage to a school system was pertaining to wood floors..

that looks like a great way to do a raise! nice guide system

It's 1" emt and 3\4" emt inside of that. You can get it from the electrical section in home depot/lowes

Wood floors make any other wood build out much easier. Otherwise you wind up making screw holes in the metal floor to attach anything.

you can actually attach things to the wood? here i was thinking it wouldnt be thick enough to truly hold anything and was planning to drill through the floor for any attachments of things..

wood floors are great, but usually the ones that come in the bus from the factory end up replaced.

Ok....... before I get to cutting too much on the bus...... how much can be expected in terms of flexing when I start cutting posts? I started cutting at the rear, and the whole tail end shifted over a quarter of an inch from cutting just the rear posts..... kinda freaked me out. Is the normal, or should I weld it back up and say no go on the roof? Is this a sign the bus could be warped or something?

The roof section is going to flex a son as you cut it. Several ways to minimize it:
- level the bus
- weld temporary cross bracing to the top and bottom portions before cutting to help hold the shape.
- attac guide channel on some of the posts to help hold the roof section in alignment and make it easier to line up after you jack it up and weld the filler posts in place.

Thank you! It was actually way easier than I had convinced myself it was gonna be haha. And yea. I have fluorescent lights at one end of the shop and halogens at the other. Makes for cool color differences.

"mudda earth" Lewis said the same thing- he was surprised how easy the raise was after all the anticipation.

Yep. I used basically the same method as him. It really was surprisingly easy. I got myself all worked up but once the guides were made and attached it was a breeze. From first cut, to finish was barely an hour and a half. By myself. I still have some welding and boxing to do, but the roof is up stable. And definitely worth it.

I love to hear that! I've been marching on toward my own raise and WILL have it done this summer. Gonna be doing a similar method.

Post as many pics as you can PLEASE!

Hey guys! Been away for a little bit due to building the new night club and traveling to Pittsburgh and Bethel NY, but I'm back! Opened the club last weekend and it went very well!

So I'm VERY involved in music, festivals, night clubs and such and another local club owner gave me a sweet deal on some speakers! These will be going on the bus!

Well for some reason I can't upload pics.....
