1998 Thomas RE 84 Pass - MT643 - jpm9909's build

1998 Thomas Rear Engine Model 140HS 84 Passenger MT643 Automatic Transmission, Cummins ER6BTA230 rear engine, air brakes.

So, I did it - bid and won a 98 rear engine bus, now I just need to p/u from Marion AR and get her back to Tampa!

Congrats JPM,

That is a good looking bus. Being a '98 is it a mechanical 5.9?

Hey thanks, I'm not sure (still new to the skoolie thing) - it's listed as having a "Cummins ER6BTA230 rear engine" but I'm waiting to hear back from the school district guy to get more information.

Nice! Just remember when driving back from Arkansas -- you're not driving your standard automobile - you're driving a brick.

Also, would strongly recommend that you remove 2 rows of seats before driving. You can set up a cot and save on motel bills. That is, unless you really like staying in air conditioned comfort with cable TV and nice restaurants.

Ah, but this is a Thomas bus, not a Carpenter. The seats are staggered.

on long road trips ill do the crash for an hour or 2 at a rest area... my batteries will last ,long enough to run my portable A/C that long ... and in winter i just let the air shutters close and leave the bus run for heat...

in the bluebird i just let it run... thats the one I todd the mattress down in between the seats.. the carpenter i took enough seats out to have room

I'm defintely thinking about packing my angle grinder on my flight (check bag) so I can remove some seats for the drive back, and yes, I'm a bit nervous about driving her.... but I'll defintely be taking my time, no rush and a 12 hour drive...

I found this bus listed on govdeals... watched the auction for 12 days and then literally swooped in with 30 secs left in the auction on Monday morning and won! ha ha (the early bird!)

PLENTY of room for that!
Or bring your bus as a metal tent!
That's what mine are at this point.
