Got some stuff coming together!

I plumbed out from the factory propane termination on the stove to a 3/8 flare fitting. I used black pipe and propane rated thread tape.

To help avoid any issues with potential leaks I test fitted a grill tank so I could do the natural gas to propane conversion which this stove required since it came from the factory set up for compressed natural gas.

This piece flips over and goes back in. Once you do that it looks like this:

Then you adjust a nut on the collar to each of the burner valves.

This is what the oven burner looked like before I adjusted it. The adjustment on this was somewhat difficult because the directions were hard to follow. It’s easy enough once you know what you’re supposed to do. They give a lot of warnings about not over tightening things which led me to not tighten them enough initially.

Even though it was a temporary connection I did a bubble test on my flare fitting. As the bubble show it was leaking just a little bit.

Finished propane plumbing today. Don’t have many more pictures because most of it was kind of boring. Mounted the manifold and regulator under the floor and secured the copper lines with rubber dipped loops sized appropriately for the 3/8” lines.

UPS arrived with my last piece: a 60” hose with the tank outlet fitting on one and and make 1/4” NPT on the other.

After more carefully checking everything I did find a couple small leaks that were easy to troubleshoot. One flare fitting just needed slightly more torque, one pipe thread needed a few more wraps of tape.

I took it on the road for a 20 mile drive on backroads and all went well.

My minisplits and generator ran the whole time without issue and all the plumbing seemed to survive without issue.

All the major systems of the bus are now complete and I’m going to shift my focus to finishing the carpentry and get the thing livable!

David ... at some point could you provide a breakdown of the costs you have incurred ... although I guess it's possible that even you don't want to know

Haha! Interesting question. The honest answer is I have no real idea. I know how much a lot of the major components cost, but there are many incidental costs that I never imagined.

I spend between $5 and $75 most days at Ace, Lowe’s or HD on small stuff.

I’ll try to digest this a bit further once I’m done.

I am a teacher and live on a teacher’s salary. I’ve been working on the project for 9 months or so and haven’t gone into debt which I was afraid I would have to do to finish on time, but optimistic that we will finish it debt free.

Hi I have a question from early on in your build. I saw you used flashing tape to cover the holes in your floor. This seems like a great and easy solution to the holes in the floor problem. I have tons of holes in the floor of my bus and have been planning on welding the smaller ones shut and cutting up chunks of the walls we took out to put down with seam seal for the larger ones. Flashing tape seems much easier though. I was wondering if you used a flashing tape that was made with aluminum and were at all concerned about the non similar metals corroding? Also how well did the flashing tape stick down? I would hate to have it maybe get sprayed with water from below and lift up just enough to let some in under the floor. Your bus looks very well thought through so I bet you thought about all these things already and concluded it was fine.

It is butyl rubber backed with aluminum. The metals never meet and it is extremely sticky, waterproof and durable.

Can find in roofing section at big box home improvement stores.

It does have a little thickness, but my insulation seemed to absorb that easily and leave the flooring surface flat enough.

Awesome David thanks for the reply and the good ideas I was dreading angle grinding or tin snipping out a tons of little squares for the holes. Flashing tape it is.

Worked on the dining room table tonight.

It is made of more of the same walnut table that the countertop was made from.

Since I don’t have a table saw I finally at lease got smart enough to use a a straight edge when making these cuts.

Finished size is 5’ x 22”.

Lots of sanding and I believe it is ready for stain.

I’m not good at woodworking, but it is fun and rewarding even if my work isn’t perfect!

I had thought of trying something like that, but couldn’t figure out how to make it strong, convertible and dimensionally practical for both purposes. The easiest way to support would be with a cable that would go diagonally to the wall, but that would be inconvenient when using the table.

I’m sure with enough engineering you could figure something out, but I just decided to try to make something strong and practical for our needs.

I have a drop down table in my DEV bus.. never thought about making it so it goes UP.. I really shouldve tried that since when im driving Heat is such an issue in summer in that bus...

piano hinge can give you pretty good strength along the hinged edge..

Great work! I was skeptical of your wood countertop initially, but with your table it’ll all tie together really well.
As far as being ‘cliche’ with the pallet wood—meh! It’s gonna be beautiful, it’s lighter than plywood, it’s yours, and the price was right!!
