Re: 84 Thomas - The Yankeflyer

I thought I was hitting a patch of rough road on I-80 just east of North Platt Nebraska when suddenly the CB blasted out a loud trucker voice " Hey skoolie you lost a tire. Right ahead of me was an exit sign to a rest area so I pulled in and sure enough the inside drivers side tire was completly shreaded and only the side walls were still on the rim. http://www.skoolie.net/gallery2/v/Sk...mas/?g2_page=2 Though I had the tools to take off the wheel, I did not have a spare tire.

Everything around that wheel well was too hot to touch, after about an hour, I drove the last few miles into N.Platt and went to the first truck stop. They had one used tire and for 250 bucks it could be mine. Crap they had me and there was no way I was going to drive the bus with out the tire, I could just see the bus with the other tire failling and the rim setting on the pavement. So the old credit card takes a hit and I`m back on the road again.

The tire that blew was a recap and the rough road I though I was hitting was acually the tread coming off.

I emailed Steve (webmaster) and he did not know there were problems posting pics. He changed some setting and fixed the problem. I am now able to load pics from my hard drive into my discussion threads.

Re: 84 Thomas - The Yankeflyer

Hi Doc, good to hear from you. The CB on a low setting enables short range communication so you don`t have to hear all the babbel on channel 19.

The art website is new and very interesting with its world wide reach and membership. http://fineartamerica.com/featured/j...es-mulloy.html
I own a lot in Colorado City just south of Pueblo and hope to put an A frame on it some day and spend my summers there. It was so hot here in Oklahoma this summer but sure is nice now.

Most locomotive engineers in the U.S. are union members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen and I`m still an active member, though now retired from the Railroad http://www.ble-t.org/ , I guess that makes me the opposite of tea party republicans - But hey going camping with the girls sounds like fun and the fishing in those high mt lakes in the Rockies is a great time. Elk camp is going on right now for my old buds there in NE Wyoming.

My bus is on the back burner for now and is tucked away behind the house for now .

Cheers
mbm
